  21.    The Enhanced Video Device Driver enables (1) accelerated motion video
  22.    playback, (2) video capture and overlay, and (3) video output to a
  23.    television.  The video capture enables you to easily capture and
  24.    digitize still images or motion video directly from a video cassette
  25.    recorder.

  27.    (1) Accelerated full-screen motion video playback
  28.        - Video image zoom-in
  29.        - Video image zoom-in with bi-linear interpolation
  30.        - Color space conversion
  31.        - Video playback up to 640x480 window size
  32.    (2) Video capture and overlay
  33.        - NTSC composite, PAL composite, or S-video input
  34.        - Overlay the captured motion video on the screen
  35.        - Overlay the captured motion video on the screen while
  36.          storing the captured motion video to the hard disk
  37.    (3) VGA video output to television

  42.  2. Installation of OS/2 Enhanced Video Device Driver
  43.     -------------------------------------------------
  44.  
  45.     1. DOS and Windows must be installed on your computer before
  46.        installing this device driver.  If DOS and Windows are not
  47.        already installed, follow the instructions that came with
  48.        DOS and Windows to install them.
  49.  
  50.     2. If OS/2 Warp is not already installed, install it using diskettes
  51.        made with Diskette Factory.  If MWave is not already installed,
  52.        install it using diskettes made with Diskette Factory.  If the
  53.        Video In Recorder Application is to be installed from the BonusPak,
  54.        you must do so before you continue to the next step.

  56.     3. Use Diskette Factory to create the following diskettes
  57.        (Diskette Factory is located under ThinkPad from the Windows
  58.        pull-down in the Windows Program Manager):
  59.  
  60.        o ThinkPad 755CE/CD Utility Diskette
  61.        o ThinkPad 755CD Enhanced Video Device Driver
  62.        o ThinkPad 755CD Overlay Video Acceleration
  63.  
  64.     4. Install the ThinkPad System Management Device Driver:
  65.  
  66.        a. Insert the ThinkPad 755CE/CD Utility Diskette into drive A.
  67.        b. Click on OS/2 System.
  68.        c. Click on System Setup.
  69.        d. Click on Device Driver Install.
  70.        e. Select Install.
  71.        f. When a window appears, be sure ThinkPad System Management Device
  72.           Driver is highlighted.  Then select OK.
  73.        g. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the
  74.           installation.

  76.     5. Install the ThinkPad Features in OS/2:

  78.        a. Insert the ThinkPad 755CE/CD Utility Diskette into drive A.
  79.        b. Open an OS/2 window.
  80.        c. At the command prompt, type the following and then press Enter:

  84.     6. Install the ThinkPad 755CD Enhanced Video Device Driver.  Follow
  85.        the installation instructions in the file called README.WIN,
  86.        located on the ThinkPad 755CD Enhanced Video Device Driver
  87.        diskette.

  89.     7. Install the ThinkPad 755CD Overlay Video Acceleration:

  91.        a. Insert the ThinkPad 755CD Overlay Video Acceleration diskette
  92.           into drive A.
  93.        b. Open an OS/2 window.
  94.        c. At the command prompt, type the following and then press Enter:

  96.                MINSTALL
  97.  
  98.           The IBM Multimedia Presentation Manager/2 - Installation
  99.           window appears on your screen.
  100.  
  101.        d. In the window, change the Source Drive to A:.
  102.        e. Select Install.
  103.        f. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the
  104.           installation.

  106.     8. Enable the video capture feature under OS/2 Warp:
  107.  
  108.        o  Click on the ThinkPad Features object on your Desktop.
  109.        o  Refer to the section called "Using the Enhanced Video
  110.           Features" in Chapter 3 of the ThinkPad 755CD User's Guide for
  111.           instructions.

  113.     8. When prompted, shut down and restart your computer in order for
  114.        these changes to take effect.

  118. 3. Usage Notes
  119.    -----------
  120.  
  121.   o  The device is opened exclusively for recording, playback, or TV
  122.      output.  For example, after the device is configured for recording
  123.      or monitoring live video, it cannot be used concurrently for
  124.      accelerated video playback or vice versa.
  125.  
  126.   o  If the device is not available for hardware accelerated playback,
  127.      the subsystem will perform software playback automatically.
  128.  
  129.   o  In order to achieve accelerated video playback, open the Digital
  130.      Video object.
  131.  
  132.   o  When TV output is enabled, the device cannot be used for recording
  133.      or monitoring live video or hardware accelerated playback.  In
  134.      order to use the Enhanced Video Device Driver, you must disable TV
  135.      output.  To do so, use the ThinkPad Features object and select
  136.      Video-in to disable TV output.
  137.  
  138.   o  During video recording, the live monitor window might flicker.
  139.  
  140.   o  The live video in the monitor window might be distorted if the
  141.      monitor window is other than half size, normal size, or double
  142.      size.

  144. 4. Video-in Usage Tips:
  145.    -------------------
  146.  
  147.   o  When the monitor window is in focus, you can press Shift+F6 to toggle
  148.      between full-screen video or the previous size.
  149.  
  150.   o  You can use Shift+F5 to maintain the original aspect ratio.  To
  151.      disable this function, press Shift+F5 again.
