  12. Please review this document prior to installing the Hewlett-Packard
  13. JetAdmin for OS/2 software.  It contains information not included in
  14. the manuals.

  31. To install JetAdmin for OS/2, you will need to obtain the Spooler Pak
  32. from IBM.  
  33.  
  34. In addition to the Spooler Pak, the following files necessary for
  35. installing JetAdmin for OS/2 version A.02.04:

  38.     HPPD.PDR
  39.     HPPDEX.EXE
  40.     HPPROT.CNV
  41.     HPRCP.HLP

  55. Certain configurations of IBM OS/2 Warp and IBM LAN Server are 
  56. required for the Hewlett-Packard JetAdmin for OS/2 software to work
  57. properly.
  58.  
  59. - LAN Server Version 3.0 and OS/2 Warp Systems
  60.      * The IBM Spooler Pak must be installed.  
  61.        NOTE:  If the Spooler Pak is not installed, JETINST will
  62.           fail with the message "Error - OS/2 Version less than 
  63.           required"     
  64.      * The IEEE 802.2 Protocol must be installed.  This can be done
  65.        through LAPS.

  67. - LAN Server Version 4.0 and OS/2 Warp Systems
  68. - OS/2 Warp Connect Systems
  69.      * The IBM Spooler Pak must be installed.  
  70.        NOTE:  If the Spooler Pak is not installed, JETINST will
  71.           fail with the message "Error - OS/2 Version less than 
  72.           required"     
  73.      * The IEEE 802.2 Protocol must be installed.  This can be done
  74.        through MPTS.

  76. - IBM OS/2 Warp Server Systems
  77.      * The IBM Spooler Pak must be installed
  78.      * The IEEE 802.2 Protocol must be installed.  This can be done 
  79.        through Adapters and Protocol Services

  81. Hewlett-Packard JetAdmin for OS/2 is not supported with versions of OS/2 
  82. prior to OS/2 Warp 3.0.

  87. *  3.0 Pre-Installation                                             *

  91. If you are running Hewlett-Packard JetAdmin for OS/2 version A.00 or
  92. A.01, there is no need to make any changes to your existing printer and
  93. port configurations.
  94.  
  95. If you are running the Hewlett-Packard HPRedirector printer solution,
  96. you must remove or disable it prior to installing JetAdmin for OS/2.
  97.  
  98.     To remove HPRedirector:
  99.       Use the setup program SETUP.EXE in the HPNETPRN directory and
  100.       remove all printers that appear.
  101.       Remove the CONFIG.SYS line that runs HPREDIR.EXE.
  102.       Remove the HPNETPRN directory.
  103.       Shut down and reboot
  104.  
  105.     To disable HPRedirector:
  106.       Comment out the CONFIG.SYS line that runs HPREDIR.EXE
  107.       Deselect all HP network-attached ports in your existing print
  108.       objects. (these are the ones that begin with \PIPE\).

  116. *  4.0 Installation Procedures                                      *

  120. Install the IBM Spooler Pak.  Make certain to reboot as a part of the
  121. Spooler Pak Installation. 
  122.

  124. Install JetAdmin version A.02.04 using the JETINST.EXE program as
  125. follows: (see 4.1 Installation Notes)
  126.  
  127.     JETINST <sourcedrive>: <bootdrive>: <option>
  128.  
  129. Example JETINST D: C: HP

  131. Where:
  132. <sourcedrive> is the letter of the drive where the install files are
  133.           located.
  134. <bootdrive>   is the OS/2 boot partition where JetAdmin is to be
  135.           installed.
  136. <option>  can be one of the following:
  137.       CLIENT - Install the client software components only
  138.       HP - Install as a print server (default)
  139.

  141. NOTE:  Shutdown and reboot to complete the install process.

  146. *  4.1  Installation Notes                                          *

  148.  
  149. 1.  The Spooler is disabled as part of the installation process. JETINST
  150.     will re-enable the spooler when the installation is complete.
  151. 2.  Each drive letter must be followed by a colon.
  152. 3.  The file JETINST.EXE must be located in the same directory as the 
  153.     install files.
  154. 4.  A logfile, JETINST.LOG, is created the directory where the install
  155.     files are located.  This logfile contains the installation
  156.     information displayed on the monitor during installation.
