Please review this document prior to installing the Hewlett-Packard
JetAdmin for OS/2 software. It contains information not included in
the manuals.

To install JetAdmin for OS/2, you will need to obtain the Spooler Pak
from IBM.
In addition to the Spooler Pak, the following files necessary for
installing JetAdmin for OS/2 version A.02.04:
HPPD.HLP
HPPD.PDR
HPPDEX.EXE
HPPROT.CNV
HPRCP.HLP
HPRCP.DLL
HPRCPEX.EXE
JETINST.EXE

* 2.0 Supported Configurations *
* *
*********************************************************************
Certain configurations of IBM OS/2 Warp and IBM LAN Server are
required for the Hewlett-Packard JetAdmin for OS/2 software to work
properly.
- LAN Server Version 3.0 and OS/2 Warp Systems
* The IBM Spooler Pak must be installed.
NOTE: If the Spooler Pak is not installed, JETINST will
fail with the message "Error - OS/2 Version less than
required"
* The IEEE 802.2 Protocol must be installed. This can be done
through LAPS.
- LAN Server Version 4.0 and OS/2 Warp Systems
- OS/2 Warp Connect Systems
* The IBM Spooler Pak must be installed.
NOTE: If the Spooler Pak is not installed, JETINST will
fail with the message "Error - OS/2 Version less than
required"
* The IEEE 802.2 Protocol must be installed. This can be done
through MPTS.
- IBM OS/2 Warp Server Systems
* The IBM Spooler Pak must be installed
* The IEEE 802.2 Protocol must be installed. This can be done
through Adapters and Protocol Services
Hewlett-Packard JetAdmin for OS/2 is not supported with versions of OS/2
prior to OS/2 Warp 3.0.

* 3.0 Pre-Installation *
* *
*********************************************************************
If you are running Hewlett-Packard JetAdmin for OS/2 version A.00 or
A.01, there is no need to make any changes to your existing printer and
port configurations.
If you are running the Hewlett-Packard HPRedirector printer solution,
you must remove or disable it prior to installing JetAdmin for OS/2.
To remove HPRedirector:
Use the setup program SETUP.EXE in the HPNETPRN directory and
remove all printers that appear.
Remove the CONFIG.SYS line that runs HPREDIR.EXE.
Remove the HPNETPRN directory.
Shut down and reboot
To disable HPRedirector:
Comment out the CONFIG.SYS line that runs HPREDIR.EXE
Deselect all HP network-attached ports in your existing print
objects. (these are the ones that begin with \PIPE\).
Shut down and reboot.

* 4.0 Installation Procedures *

Install the IBM Spooler Pak. Make certain to reboot as a part of the
Spooler Pak Installation.
Install JetAdmin version A.02.04 using the JETINST.EXE program as
follows: (see 4.1 Installation Notes)
JETINST <sourcedrive>: <bootdrive>: <option>
Example JETINST D: C: HP
Where:
<sourcedrive> is the letter of the drive where the install files are
located.
<bootdrive> is the OS/2 boot partition where JetAdmin is to be
installed.
<option> can be one of the following:
CLIENT - Install the client software components only
HP - Install as a print server (default)
NOTE: Shutdown and reboot to complete the install process.

* 4.1 Installation Notes *
*********************************************************************
1. The Spooler is disabled as part of the installation process. JETINST
will re-enable the spooler when the installation is complete.
2. Each drive letter must be followed by a colon.
3. The file JETINST.EXE must be located in the same directory as the
install files.
4. A logfile, JETINST.LOG, is created the directory where the install
files are located. This logfile contains the installation
information displayed on the monitor during installation.
