  1. Canon CaPSL printer driver for OS/2 1.3, 2.0 and 2.1

  8. Installation

  11. Note: If creating an installation disk from a ZIP file, execute the
  12. command file RESETEA on the installation disk before use.

  15. Installing under OS/2 1.3
  16. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

  18. If you have a previous version of the CaPSL driver already installed on your
  19. system, you must perform the following steps before proceeding with the
  20. installation.
  21.  
  22. 1.  Open the Print Manager
  23.  
  24. 2.  Select "Setup" from the menu bar
  25.  
  26. 3.  Select "Printers..." from the menu
  27.  
  28. 4.  Select each CaPSL printer listed in turn, pressing the "Delete" button
  29.     on the dialog to remove the printer
  30.  
  31. 5.  Press the "OK" button on the dialog to finish the dialog
  32.  
  33. 6.  Select "Setup" from the menu bar
  34.  
  35. 7.  Select "Queues..." from the menu
  36.  
  37. 8.  Select each queue to a CaPSL printer listed in turn, pressing the "Delete"
  38.     button on the dialog to remove the queue
  39.  
  40. 9.  Press the "OK" button on the dialog to finish the dialog
  41.  
  42. 10. Open the Control Panel
  43.  
  44. 11. Select "Installation" from the menu bar
  45.  
  46. 12. Select "Delete printer driver" from the menu
  47.  
  48. 13. Select the CaPSL printer driver and press the "Delete" button on the
  49.     dialog
  50.  
  51. 14. Answer "Yes" to delete the driver file as well
  52.  
  53. To install the new driver from the installation disk, you should perform
  54. the following steps
  55.  
  56. 1.  Open the Print Manager
  57.  
  58. 2.  Select "Setup" from the menu bar
  59.  
  60. 3.  Select "Printer Install..." from the menu
  61.  
  62. 4.  Press the "New..." button on the dialog
  63.  
  64. 5.  Specify the drive containing the installation disk and press "OK"
  65.  
  66. 6.  Select the model of your printer from the list given. The driver will
  67.     be copied to your system and the printer models will appear in the
  68.     printer list
  69.  
  70. 7.  Set the parallel port appropriately and press "OK" to create the
  71.     the printer and queue
  72.  
  73. If the system fails to copy the new driver to your hard disk it is probably
  74. due to a previous version of the driver being locked. Reboot your system
  75. and try the installation procedure again.

  78. Installing under OS/2 2.0 and 2.1
  79. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

  81. If you have a previous version of the CaPSL driver already installed on your
  82. system, you must perform the following steps before proceeding with the
  83. installation.

  85. 1.  Open a printer driver icon's settings dialog
  86.  
  87. 2.  Delete any installed CaPSL drivers shown on the printer drivers list,
  88.     either by dragging to the shredder or by selecting "Delete" on the
  89.     icon's menu. When deleting the last driver icon, allow the system
  90.     to delete the driver file as well
  91.  
  92. To install the new driver from the installation disk, you should perform
  93. the following steps
  94.  
  95. 1.  Open the drive icon containing the installation disk
  96.  
  97. 2.  Open the CaPSL printer driver icon (labelled "CAPSL.DRV"). (The
  98.     system may take a long time to open the icon, please wait.) The
  99.     system will display a window containing the CaPSL device names
  100.  
  101. 3.  Select the icon most appropriate for your printer and drag the icon
  102.     onto the desktop. This will install the printer driver on your system
  103.     and create a queue to the printer. (The system may not position the
  104.     printer icon at the place where you dropped it on the desktop.)
  105.  
  106. 4.  Open the settings dialog on the printer icon and configure the settings
  107.     according to your printer environment (i.e. output port, paper size,
  108.     font cards, etc.)

  110. If the system fails to copy the new driver to your hard disk it is probably
  111. due to a previous version of the driver being locked. Reboot your system
  112. and try the installation procedure again.

  116. Application Notes

  118.  
  119. 1. Graduated polygon fills are time-consuming under Corel Draw. When printing
  120.    pictures containing such objects, ensure the "Fountain Stripes" value
  121.    on the Print dialog is set to the minimum value that will produce a
  122.    reasonable quality. For most pictures a value between 8 and 16 should
  123.    suffice. Increase the value for pictures with high contrast.
