Canon CaPSL printer driver for OS/2 1.3, 2.0 and 2.1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Release notes for new versions of this driver are contained in the file RELEASE.TXT Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Note: If creating an installation disk from a ZIP file, execute the command file RESETEA on the installation disk before use. Installing under OS/2 1.3 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ If you have a previous version of the CaPSL driver already installed on your system, you must perform the following steps before proceeding with the installation. 1. Open the Print Manager 2. Select "Setup" from the menu bar 3. Select "Printers..." from the menu 4. Select each CaPSL printer listed in turn, pressing the "Delete" button on the dialog to remove the printer 5. Press the "OK" button on the dialog to finish the dialog 6. Select "Setup" from the menu bar 7. Select "Queues..." from the menu 8. Select each queue to a CaPSL printer listed in turn, pressing the "Delete" button on the dialog to remove the queue 9. Press the "OK" button on the dialog to finish the dialog 10. Open the Control Panel 11. Select "Installation" from the menu bar 12. Select "Delete printer driver" from the menu 13. Select the CaPSL printer driver and press the "Delete" button on the dialog 14. Answer "Yes" to delete the driver file as well To install the new driver from the installation disk, you should perform the following steps 1. Open the Print Manager 2. Select "Setup" from the menu bar 3. Select "Printer Install..." from the menu 4. Press the "New..." button on the dialog 5. Specify the drive containing the installation disk and press "OK" 6. Select the model of your printer from the list given. The driver will be copied to your system and the printer models will appear in the printer list 7. Set the parallel port appropriately and press "OK" to create the the printer and queue If the system fails to copy the new driver to your hard disk it is probably due to a previous version of the driver being locked. Reboot your system and try the installation procedure again. Installing under OS/2 2.0 and 2.1 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ If you have a previous version of the CaPSL driver already installed on your system, you must perform the following steps before proceeding with the installation. 1. Open a printer driver icon's settings dialog 2. Delete any installed CaPSL drivers shown on the printer drivers list, either by dragging to the shredder or by selecting "Delete" on the icon's menu. When deleting the last driver icon, allow the system to delete the driver file as well To install the new driver from the installation disk, you should perform the following steps 1. Open the drive icon containing the installation disk 2. Open the CaPSL printer driver icon (labelled "CAPSL.DRV"). (The system may take a long time to open the icon, please wait.) The system will display a window containing the CaPSL device names 3. Select the icon most appropriate for your printer and drag the icon onto the desktop. This will install the printer driver on your system and create a queue to the printer. (The system may not position the printer icon at the place where you dropped it on the desktop.) 4. Open the settings dialog on the printer icon and configure the settings according to your printer environment (i.e. output port, paper size, font cards, etc.) If the system fails to copy the new driver to your hard disk it is probably due to a previous version of the driver being locked. Reboot your system and try the installation procedure again. Application Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Graduated polygon fills are time-consuming under Corel Draw. When printing pictures containing such objects, ensure the "Fountain Stripes" value on the Print dialog is set to the minimum value that will produce a reasonable quality. For most pictures a value between 8 and 16 should suffice. Increase the value for pictures with high contrast.
