PLATFORM INDEPENDENT GUI'S FOR DISTRIBUTED C/S ENVIRONMENTS
June 22, 1993
Building GUI front ends for PC, workstations or server applications?
You may have had trouble picking a platform, OS/2, Windows, AIX, etc.
If you want to support all the popular platforms you have lots of work
to do.
OR...
You can use a tool we've developed which hides the differences between
the various workstation platforms. Through a consistent API you
can drive a distributed GUI interface on any of the following
platforms: OS/2-PM, AIX-Motif, DOS-Windows, and soon MAC, HP and SUN.
Similar in principle to X/Motif, our tool provides distributed GUI
displays with much better network performance while utilizing the
native workstation GUI. Your user will be hard pressed to tell
whether your application is running on the host, server or the
workstation.
The programmer develops the application using our API. He can program
in FORTRAN, COBOL, C, C++, or any other high level language. Though a
definite class hierarchy is visible through the API, no Object
Oriented language features are needed in the application program to
utilize our tool.
The GUI front-end is dynamically run on any PC or workstation display,
just like a terminal emulator. Many objects are incorporated in the
tool, allowing the programmer to focus on the "heart" of the
application instead of the visualization.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in please send a
PROFS note, FAX, E-MAIL, etc. to Cathi Lai with the following info:
1. Your Name and method of contacting you
2. Company Name and Department
3. How you think you could use this tool
4. How it may help with host "legacy" application problems
