  5. The IBM Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) Runtime Client
  6. for OS/2 and the IBM DCE Software Developer's Kit (SDK) for
  7. OS/2 and Windows are available today from IBM!  These products
  8. were announced by Art Olbert at INTEROP in
  9. San Francisco at the Open Software Foundation (OSF)
  10. press briefing.  An IBM DCE Runtime Client for Windows is
  11. available via a beta program (see related PSPINFO announcement
  12. of 8/24/93).

  14. IBM DCE Runtime Client for OS/2 Highlights:

  16. The IBM DCE Runtime Client for OS/2 is a production level,
  17. industrial-strength DCE runtime client for the Intel market.  It
  18. is designed to interoperate with IBM AIX* DCE/6000 and other
  19. OSF DCE-compliant server implementations.  The OS/2 DCE
  20. runtime client is based on DCE Version 1.0.2 as provided by
  21. OSF and enables execution of both the client and server
  22. portions of remote procedure call as well as providing access
  23. to the Cell Directory and Security Services as needed for
  24. distributed computing.

  38. environments.  In the US, this product has a User Data Privacy
  39. feature that allows users to access the U.S. Government Data
  40. Encryption Standard (DES) algorithms for user data encryption
  41. via remote procedure call.
