  1. NETWARE REQUESTER FOR OS/2 2.1 STATUS

  5. In response to many of your inquiries about NetWare* for OS/2** 2.1,
  6. the current NetWare Client is version 2.01 and it is available with
  7. NetWare 4.0/4.01 and via NetWire.  This version supports both OS/2 2.0
  8. and 2.1.  Both full screen and windowed OS/2 sessions are fully
  9. supported in the NetWare 3.11 and 4.0/4.01 environments.

  11. Users that are running DOS and Windows applications over the network
  12. should exercise caution.  Some Windows applications will encounter a
  13. General Protection Fault when trying to access the network.  In some
  14. cases, setting NetWare Resources to Private instead of Global will
  15. correct the problem.  Also, users who have NetWare 4.0/4.01 servers
  16. installed should be aware that support for NetWare 4.0/4.01 Directory
  17. Services is not yet available from DOS and WIN-OS2 sessions.

  30. This memo is to help you answer customers' questions about
  31. the NetWare Client for OS/2.
  32.  
  33. Novell is currently shipping version 2.01 of the OS/2 client.
  34. This version is available with NetWare 4.0, NetWare 4.01 and
  35. as a separate client kit through the 1-800-UPDATE1 program.

  37. The client software that is currently shipping will support
  38. NetWare connectivity in OS/2 versions 2.0 and 2.1 completely
  39. from native OS/2 sessions.

  41. With OS/2 2.1, more users are running networked DOS and Windows
  42. applications on OS/2.  Some issues have arisen concerning
  43. NetWare access from these environments.  Novell and IBM are
  44. working together to address these issues.  In response to
  45. the growing market acceptance of OS/2 and customer demand for
  46. seamless NetWare access Novell remains committed to providing
  47. the industry's best OS/2 client software.
