  46. A few months ago I managed to install
  47. the UCP COM21 modem. Thanks to the
  48. support in a Dutch OS/2 group at that time.
  49.  
  50. I have found that UPC is not competent
  51. enough at the moment to guarantee 24h
  52. fast internet cable connections that work.
  53.  
  54. So time to leave them again (I am not that
  55. much on line that their real charges would be
  56. far less than the per minute phone dial-up char-
  57. ges we get for local phone-connections over he-
  58. re). One of the alternative ISP's is of course doing
  59. everything dynamically, my IP, their gateway, both 
  60. the DNS-servers etc. etc. That is the one I am now
  61. having trouble with to get it working. Do I need to in-
  62. stall or confige anything special for them? I do use mo-
  63. re ISP than one just to improve chanches of a connect.

  86. Anyone out there running this program (a java based tn3270 telnet) on OS/2?

  89. but it looks like the developers are using some security techniques that
  90. OS/2's Java VM doesn't support.

  114. Plug-ins run within the Netscape process. There is no "associated
  115. executable" - all the code is in the plug-in DLL. For example, the
  116. Digital Sound & Music Interface for OS/2 plug-in at
  117. http://www.thetaband.com/npdsmi loads all the multimedia code into the
  118. Netscape process.

  121. starts. If you want more information on how plug-ins work, download the
  122. OS/2 Netscape plug-in toolkit from IBM.

  125. their ACROREAD.EXE to pass the data. It's a much more complicated
  126. plug-in than most, and there is no role for this type of implementation.

  242. I understand about the PLUGINS directory under Netscape, but I can't
  243. figure out how NPPDFOS2.DLL finds ACROREAD.EXE if it is not on the path
  244. and has no association set up with PDF files. There is a file - NSCP.INI 
  245. in  C:\OS2 which on my system has an entry for ACROREAD. Is this where
  246. Netscape gets its info?

  288. which is why I'm not using it here.

  291. near the end of the task it crashes giving me
  292. a Trap E error, and a previous message about
  293. Newserver swapfile is full.
  294.   I've moved my OS/2 swapfile address to 
  295. a volume with 270 megabytes; it used to be
  296. at the \os2\system with about 70 megabytes
  297. free.

  300. there is a rush of RAM (62 megabytes) deletion
  301. or outflow.  That is my PmPatrol monitor line
  302. shows that RAM is dropping fast and going to

  354. Anyone else have a problem with the latest Communicator for OS/2.  I
  355. downloaded and installed 4.6, and it constantly crashes.  It doesn't seem to
  356. discriminate on which page it will crash, but if I try to email a page, or
  357. even sometimes when I scroll down a page it will crash.

  396. Having some weird problems after installing FP12
  397. I decided to backout to FP11. Problems did not va-
  398. nish, so I thought some left-overs from old versions or
  399. partially deleted tests of applications might be in the way
  400. also. Time to take the drastic approach and re-install from
  401. the original CD 4.0 no FP and apply FP11 right-away. System
  402. sure responds a lot better and without the hickups. So perhaps
  403. it was the FP12 after all or something else that got awry over time.
  404.  
  405. But Netscape 4.61 Gold go installed for this on another partition,
  406. as I have my applications (perhaps <g> that is the fault labelling NS
  407. as an application?) all on a seperatie partition. Worked before the re-
  408. isntall without a problem. Now after the re-install it complains. Attempts
  409. to start it will fail at an error-screen stating that RESDLL.DLL could not be
  410. found. Sure enough it is not there anymore on the boot-partition. I installed
  411. GRADD .80 also. But as far as I know this DLL belongs to the video-system,
  412. so if it does not get installed by simply installing the base OS and applying
  413. FP11
  414. and Netscape as a core component of updating our systems depends on it, what
  415. new hurdles will be introduced in the install / setup-processes by this?

  434. I have a 3Com/USR Internet Voice/Fax modem. I can't get the thing to run
  435. under OS/2 Warp 4. It's NOT a WINMODEM. I can get it to run fine under
  436. DOS, or Linux, but not Warp 4. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've
  437. tried copying the initialize strings and using different modems types
  438. but nothing seems to work.
