Had the same problems. Installed the gradd divers (v77) and did cure most
problems. Appears S3 virge and OS/2 and overly friendly.

Hi!
Here I have an ATI Xpert@Play (Rage Pro chipset) with the Gradd
driver... 0.79 seems to work best. I can send it to you if you want.

I have the 19" Vision Master with a Matrox Miullennium. Though the card is
not
in the list, you can still use it to max capabilities using DDC; just select
DDC
monitor in the setup screen (I guess the other monitors aren't DDC and hence
need to be in the list).

Hi Mikko,
No not really. But if you *really* have to deal with this card you can
use GENGRADD Generic 0.80 for getting unaccelerated resolutions higher
than VGA.
If you can switch to Matrox G400 (light-fast for gaming under Win9x)

Same here, after selecting DDC , rebooting @1024, MGAset.exe (MGA
Settings icon) tells me the refresh is a very stable 85hz, (and within
the mfg specified range) Selecting one of the other Iiyama's from the
list resulted in a lower refresh rate. --

I have just installed GRADD 080 on a WARP 3 FP 40 with a S3 VIRGE/DX 4

It installed fine and works also fine but some things is extreme slow in

"BLT" commands is approx. 20 times slower than with my S3 virge 3.020
drivers.
Is that normal ?

Hi
That driver is severly flawed and will make your system unstable. You
will not be able to scroll and have the screen redraw properly and you
may experience Trap 3's when viewing graphic files. The ony plus is that
they appeared to be accelerated. I am using GEN GRAD from the SDD beta.
It's stable and not too shaby on speed. I would be using SDD's own but
it is has a major bug with scroll bars in WINOS/2. Don't forget to go
back to VGA before you change drivers.
Cheers

Subj: Re: Seamless WinOS2 working again AT LAST!
From: "zeppelin@gte.net" <zeppelin@gte.net>
This "problem" has been bothering me as well. (3D Pro Turbo PC2TV) none of
the
"font fixes" mentioned have done much good for me. Historically, I can tell
you
that up to and including fix pack 7, I never had this problem, but with fixpak
8, 9, and 10 the problem was so frustrating that I "backed" out of each fix,
and
Win-OS2 "windowed" or "seamless" sessions returned beautifly. I have also had
the same problem with any and all of the "Gradd" packages, but as it pertains
to "Gradd" drivers, removing them and re installing the ATI drivers would NOT
fix the "seamless" problem, I ended up having to do a Complete BA/2 "disaster
restore to before the implementation of "Gradd" to recover seamless
functionality.
I am pretty certain that the problem is caused as a result of a rather
convoluted process that starts when you first install the ATI OEM "enhanced"
drivers onto your "box stock" version of OS/2 v4. During that install, you
get
several "popup" advisories that the ATI driver install is about to replace a
"newer version" of a file with an older (non warp 4) version. As the ATI
instructions state, we "accept all defaults" during the enhanced driver
install,
and every thing seems O.K.. Somewhere around fix pak 8, IBM again started to
update this same file, and the automated nature of the Response file driven
fixpak application just rips this outdated, but precariously functional file
right out of our systems. But "backout" being the little gem that it is,
faithfully restores this file along with every thing else. "Gradd" on the
other
hand, merely "wastes" this file, never to be seen again.
I've been giving <vsvga.sys> (as installed in C:\OS2\mdos, and documented with
it's own config.sys statement) the evil eye on this, but I'm not yet totally
sure. Unfortunately, I'm not a "code" person, so I doubt that I will be able
to
make an iron clad determination on my own.
What I did do, however, is approx a year and a half ago I had a hard drive
that
developed problems in an area that is only critical to the HPFS file system. I
went through a two month period where I must have done a total system install
perhaps 25 times before Sam saved me from my own stupidity and told me it "was
the drive" that was bad. Perhaps 2-5 days after each install was complete,
everything just started falling appart. What that gave me was a front row seat
to observe the varied, and perverse consequences of selecting alternative
"replace newer?" combinations, and then trying to apply service paks to the
result.
I can tell you that there is only ONE combination of sequences that works
reliably with "seamless" sessions, and that avenue was "dead-ended" with
fixpak
8, and more recently with "gradd"
Hopefully, this info will prove useful to the "code sleuths" among you. If so,
please share your fix with me, since I recently had to addopt "Gradd v .80" to
get my Abbottsbury Software video capture card driver working with acceptable
quality. Those new high refresh rates are kinda nice also, so I'd really
hate
to go back to that ATI- eyeburning 60 hz.
