  4. Thank you very much for your decision to use DSTswitch.
  5.  
  6. DSTswitch is a system utility that advances the time of your computer when daylight
  7. saving time becomes active or sets it back when standard time is active again.
  8. DSTswitch is a stand alone program, that means an Internet connection (i.e. a 
  9. connection to a time server) is not necessary. However, DSTswitch can connect to
  10. time servers by using the TCP RFC868 protocol. Additionally, DSTswitch can be set
  11. up to run as a RFC868 time server. These are only a few functions of DSTswitch.

  24. Getting started

  27. Invoke the installation program INSTALL.EXE from the same directory this file is
  28. also in.
  29. After the installation has successfully completed you will find a DSTswitch folder
  30. on your desktop as well as a DSTswitch shadow in your startup folder.

  32. The most common settings for DSTswitch are:
  33.  
  34. * restore position of all DSTswitch windows
  35. * start DSTswitch minimised
  36. * pop up the minimised window when an event occurs
  37. * uptime in title bar (only if window is minimised)
  38.  
  39. To achieve these settings, click on the "Settings" button, then on the "User Interface"
  40. tab and make sure that the following check boxes are checked:

  42. * Restore position
  43. * Start minimized
  44. * Pop up on event
  45. * Uptime in title bar
  46.  
  47. To change the language of DSTswitch turn over to the second page of the "User Interface"
  48. tab and select your preferred language.

  51. Known bugs and limitations
  52. --------------------------

  54. * Restarting the server within about four minutes after shutting DSTswitch down
  55.   might cause an error due to an used socket (message address in use).
  56.   Solution: wait for about five minutes until the TCP/IP stack has released the
  57.   socket you've chosen for the DSTswitch server.
