DSTswitch 1.70 Readme.TXT ========================= Thank you very much for your decision to use DSTswitch. DSTswitch is a system utility that advances the time of your computer when daylight saving time becomes active or sets it back when standard time is active again. DSTswitch is a stand alone program, that means an Internet connection (i.e. a connection to a time server) is not necessary. However, DSTswitch can connect to time servers by using the TCP RFC868 protocol. Additionally, DSTswitch can be set up to run as a RFC868 time server. These are only a few functions of DSTswitch. Check out DSTswitch and its help file for more information. Please read the disclaimer in the help file carefully. Home users can buy a single license for only US$ 10, companies can obtain a site license for only US$ 60. User Groups are also eligible to purchase site licenses. Check out the help-file for more detailed information on purchasing DSTswitch licenses. To place your order with BMTmicro, please use the secure order form: https://secure.bmtmicro.com/order1386.html Getting started --------------- Invoke the installation program INSTALL.EXE from the same directory this file is also in. After the installation has successfully completed you will find a DSTswitch folder on your desktop as well as a DSTswitch shadow in your startup folder. The most common settings for DSTswitch are: * restore position of all DSTswitch windows * start DSTswitch minimised * pop up the minimised window when an event occurs * uptime in title bar (only if window is minimised) To achieve these settings, click on the "Settings" button, then on the "User Interface" tab and make sure that the following check boxes are checked: * Restore position * Start minimized * Pop up on event * Uptime in title bar To change the language of DSTswitch turn over to the second page of the "User Interface" tab and select your preferred language. Known bugs and limitations -------------------------- * Restarting the server within about four minutes after shutting DSTswitch down might cause an error due to an used socket (message address in use). Solution: wait for about five minutes until the TCP/IP stack has released the socket you've chosen for the DSTswitch server.
