  4. This is the extended help for PMCHKSUM 
  5.  
  6. PMCHKSUM is a shareware file CRC checker.  It scans the disk for the 
  7. Extensions you specify and performs a 16 bit CRC on them.  It then stores the 
  8. CRC. The next time the checksum is run, it calculates the CRC and compares it 
  9. to the stored CRC and issues an error if they do not match. 
  10.  
  11.  PMCHKSUM spins a thread for each extension specified and the threads run at a 
  12. low idle-time priority. 
  13.  
  14.  It can be run under a "CHRON" like utility,(please see  Start  , End  or 
  15. Report  ) and it also has it's own timer  .

  18. criticism.

  26. This is the help for the pushbuttons in the PM checksum application 
  27.  
  28. Pressing  Start  will begin the checksum scan 
  29.  
  30. Pressing  Cancel  will cancel the checksum scan 
  31.  
  32. Pressing  Exit  will exit the application 
  33.  
  34. Pressing  Options  will bring up the Options dialog 
  35.  
  36. Pressing Help will bring up this help screen.

  38. Pressing  Add/Del  will change your extensions listbox

  43. Pressing this button will start the CRC checksum scan using the options 
  44. selected from the options dialog box, the extensions listed in the extensions 
  45. dropdown listbox and the selected drives.

  50. Pressing this button will cancel the CRC checksum scan.  If the timer is 
  51. enabled then the timer will start counting down to the next scan.

  106. This listbox gives you error messages about the CRC checksum scan. Errors such 
  107. as a CRC changing or an error with the B+Tree will listed here.

  112. This listbox gives you status (non-error) messages about the CRC checksum scan. 
  113. Messages such as a adding a CRC entry or starting the scan will listed here.

  116. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. Drives listbox ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  118. This listbox lists the hard drives on your system.  All the drives are 
  119. initially selected.  If you do not want a scan on that drive than simply 
  120. de-select the drive letter.

  146. Checking this box will automatically replace a changed CRC entry. If this 
  147. option is not selected and a CRC entry has changed than the program will always 
  148. flag that CRC as changed.

  153. Checking this box will automatically begin the CRC checksum scan upon starting 
  154. the application.This along with  End  and  Report  allows you to run the CRC 
  155. checksum from a "CHRON" type utility.

  160. Checking this box will automatically exit the CRC checksum application upon 
  161. finising the scan. This along with  Start  and  Report  allows you to run the 
  162. CRC checksum from a "CHRON" type utility.

  167. Checking this box will automatically generate a report file about the results 
  168. of the scan. This along with  Start  and  End  allows you to run the CRC 
  169. checksum from a "CHRON" type utility.

  174. Enter a filename in this field for the report filename.  The default filename 
  175. is "PMCHKSUM.RPT".  It will be created in the working directory.

  180. Checking this box will append the newest report to the report file 
  181.  
  182. Note:  This may cause the report file to grow rather large.

  187. Checking this box will place the application in a timer mode. If the timer is 
  188. enabled then the scan will run according to the amount of time specified in the 
  189. Hours  and  Minutes  entry fields.

  194. This entry field will accept a number from 0 to 99. If the  Timer  is enabled 
  195. than this is the amount of time in hours before the next scan is run. This 
  196. number when multiplied by 60 and added to the  Minutes  field is the total 
  197. amount of time in minutes between scans.

  202. This entry field will accept a number from 0 to 99. If the  Timer  is enabled 
  203. than this is the amount of time in minutes before the next scan is run. This 
  204. number when added to the Hours  multipiled by 60, is the total amount of time 
  205. in minutes between scans.
