  2. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 1. LANtastic Chat Keys ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  3.  
  4. When two key names are joined together by a plus sign (+), use these two keys 
  5. together.  Hold down the first key and press the second key. 
  6.  
  7. F7 
  8.           Call another computer.  A dialog will appear, asking for the name of 
  9.           the computer to call. 
  10. Shift+F7 
  11.           Hang up.  Disconnect from the computer you are currently chatting 
  12.           with. 
  13. Ctrl+L 
  14.           Link this chat window with one or more other chat windows on your 
  15.           computer.  This allows you to type into one of the chat windows, and 
  16.           have your message sent to all of the conversations in those windows. 
  17. Ctrl+A 
  18.           Link All links this chat window with all other chat windows on your 
  19.           computer.  This works like Link, but affects all chat windows, not 
  20.           just those with the Link option checked. 
  21. Ctrl+Insert 
  22.           Copy selected text to the Clipboard. Anything currently in the 
  23.           clipboard is replaced.  You can copy text from either the Local or 
  24.           Remote chat window. 
  25. Shift+Insert 
  26.           Copy the contents of the Clipboard to the end of the Local chat 
  27.           window.  The text is also sent to the computer you are chatting with. 
  28.           If you are linked to other chat windows, the text is sent to them, as 
  29.           well.

  32. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Using LANtastic Chat ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  34. LANtastic Chat allows you to have a "conversation" with another computer on 
  35. your LANtastic network. 
  36.  
  37. This computer 
  38.      This window contains the text you send to the Remote Computer that you are 
  39.      chatting with.  You can clear the window by pressing the Home key.  Any 
  40.      other key will be displayed in this window, and sent to the Remote 
  41.      Computer.

  43. Remote computer 
  44.      This window contains the text sent to you by the Remote Computer that you 
  45.      are chatting with. 
  46.  
  47. The Chat menu 
  48.      Allows you to Call a remote computer, and to Hang up when you are finished 
  49.      with your conversation. You can also Link the chat window to one or more 
  50.      other chat windows so that you can conduct several conversations 
  51.      simultaneously. 
  52.  
  53. The Edit menu 
  54.      Allows you to Copy marked text from either the Local or Remote chat window 
  55.      to the System Clipboard. You can also Paste any text from the System 
  56.      Clipboard into your conversation. 
  57.  
  58. The Options menu 
  59.      Allows you to set or change the text or background color. You also can 
  60.      change the font used to display text. See Changing the Display Font and 
  61.      Changing the Display Color.

  63. The Help menu 
  64.      Allows you to display on-line help for LANtastic Chat features.

  67. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.1. Starting a Conversation ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  69.  1. From the Chat menu, choose Call. 
  70.  
  71.  2. Enter the name of the computer you wish to talk to.  If you don't know the 
  72.     computer name, you can use the LANtastic Configuration program on that 
  73.     computer to show it's name.

  77.  4. When your party answers, << Connect >> will appear in the Remote computer 
  78.     chat window.  You may now start typing - everything you type will appear in 
  79.     the Remote computer's chat window.

  81. Note:  If << Connect >> does not appear in the Remote computer window after a 
  82.        reasonable time, your party may not want to chat.  LANtasti Chat will 
  83.        keep calling until you choose Hang up... in the Chat menu.

  95. You can copy chat text to the clipboard. You then can paste this text into 
  96. other applications, such as word processors.

  102. The copied text overwrites the current contents of the clipboard.

  107. You can paste text from the clipboard into your conversation.  This allows you 
  108. to import text from other applications, such as word processors.  To Paste, 
  109. select Paste from the Edit menu, or press Shift+Insert. The pasted text appears 
  110. at the bottom of the Local chat window, and is sent to the Remote computer you 
  111. are chatting with.

  114. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2.5. Changing the Display Color ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  116. You can change the color used for the background and for text displayed in 
  117. LANtastic Chat.

  119.  1. Select Color from the Options menu.

  121.  2. To change the color, drag the slide bar to the desired color. To change the 
  122.     text color, drag the Fg (foreground) bar. To change the background color 
  123.     drag the Bg bar.

  125.     A sample of what the screen will look like appears in the Sample Text box.

  127. Note:  Changes apply to the Chat windows. You may not change the font of 
  128.        highlighted text only.

  133. To make the chat display easy to read on any type of monitor, you can change 
  134. the font used to display chat text.

  138.  2. Select a font from the Name box.

  140.  3. Select Bold, Italic, Bold Italic or Normal from the Style box.

  142.  4. Select or enter a point size in the Size box.

  378. Chat can't find the computer name you specified on the network.  The computer 
  379. may not be turned on, or may not currently be connected to the network.  The 
  380. computer name may have been misspelled.

  382. Verify the name is correct.  If necessary, you can run the LANtastic 
  383. Configuration program on the machine you are trying to connect to to find out 
  384. the computer name it was installed with.
