Total Recall v1.00 OS/2 PM disk navigator.
Introduction:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Total Recall is a 32 bit Presentation Manager application
designed to ease the access to those nested directories from the
PM environment. A list of up to 9 directories can be maintained
for those most frequently accessed. Multiple windows can be opened
to display the files contained in each directory. Total Recall was
tested and developed under OS/2 Warp 3.0, using IBM C/C++ 2.01.
Quick Start:
~~~~~~~~~~~
Unzip the files in a directory and double click on TRecall.exe.
Brief Operating Description:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Main Window Menu Headings:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recall: This heading maintains a list of the directories accessed from
the main window's list box. The contents can be held static or
items added, by toggling the "Hold Recall List" under the
"Options" heading. The list is saved on exit as is the
"Hold Recall List" checked state.
Hold Recall List: This heading toggles on and off when selected. When the
check mark is visible, the recall list will not be updated if a
directory is selected to open from the main window's directory
list box.
Close File Views: All file view windows will be closed.
Drive Free Space: Displays the remaining bytes free on the current
drive, in the titlebar text of the window.
Create a Directory: A dialog box will appear displaying the current
directory in an entry field. Type in any drive:\directory
to create a new directory. Directories can only be created
one below an existing one.
Main Window PopUp:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Locate File: Invokes OS/2's PMSEEK, an example of whats under the hood
in OS/2.
Open Folder: The highlighted directory is always acted on. This is a
conditional cascaded menu item, designated by the raised arrow
to the right, as opposed to the flat arrow on some menus.
Selecting "Open Folder" with the mouse will open the folder of
the directory indicated by the cascaded menu. The directory
name can be seen by selecting the raised arrow.
View Files: Selecting this menu item will create a new list box window
displaying the files of the highlighted directory. Multiple file
views can be opened.
OS/2 Window & DOS Window: Here also the highlighted directory is always
acted on, opening an OS/2 or DOS command prompt window in the
directory highlighted in the main window's list box. Selecting
the raised arrow will display the full drive:\directory.
File View Windows PopUp:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
View / Edit: Invokes the "E.EXE" editor on the highlighted file.
(also double clicking a list box item)
Open Folder: Opens the folder designated by the window's titlebar text.
Pink Flamingo: If you have more than one file view window open, or
sometimes half a dozen or more, select any Pink Flamingo.
General: To set the default drive:\directory for Total Recall, open
~~~~~~~ the settings view of TRecall.exe and enter it in the
"Working directory:" entry field. If using OS/2 Warp, keep
Total Recall handy by setting a copy on the LaunchPad. Only
one instance of Total Recall should be run at the same time.
Known Problems and Workarounds:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When selecting disk drive A or disk drive B, the "Open Folder"
option for the root directory only has been disabled. Successive
requests to awake this object cause system lockup both in C and
in Rexx on tested systems.
