  5.                       Description and Installation Document

  7. 1) Description
  8.  
  9.     The Profile Editor was designed using IBM VisualAge C++ as a utility for
  10.     creating and maintaining OS/2 profiles.
  11.  
  12.     Caution should be exercised when modifying information in the OS/2 user
  13.     profile (OS2.INI) and OS/2 system profile (OS2SYS.INI). Modification to data
  14.     in these files could alter or disable the OS/2 Operating System and
  15.     applications that are dependent on the OS/2 user and system profiles.

  17. 2) Installation
  18.  
  19.     Use PKUNZIP.EXE to extract the following files from PROFILE.ZIP
  20.  
  21.     PROFILE.EXE     - Profile Editor program to use without the IBM VisualAge C++
  22.                       dynamic link libraries.
  23.     PROFILED.DLL    - Support dynalink for PROFILE.EXE
  24.     PROFILE.HLP     - Profile Editor help file.
  25.     PROFILEV.EXE    - Profile Editor program for systems having a licensed copy
  26.                       of IBM VisualAge C++ installed.

  29.     Installation without IBM VisualAge C++
  30.  
  31.     a) Create a directory of your choice and copy the three files PROFILE.EXE,
  32.        PROFILED.DLL and PROFILE.HLP to that directory.
  33.     b) Using the Program template, create a desktop object for the PROFILE.EXE
  34.        application.
  35.  
  36.         Note: Be sure the working directory in the program folder points to
  37.               the directory where you copied the files. If the working
  38.               directory does no indicate the path the PROFILE.EXE will not
  39.               be able to locate the PROFILE.HLP file.

  42.     Installation with IBM VisualAge C++
  43.
