  6. is a Presentation Manager based hexadecimal editor.

  8. A 32-bit Application for OS/2 2.x designed to view and edit binary files. 
  9.  
  10. There are three parts showing the file: the address, the hex area and the text 
  11. area.

  16. o PM Hex Editor can be used to patch binary files without changing their size. 
  17.  
  18. o Deletion of single bytes is as well possible as appending bytes to the end of 
  19.   a file. 
  20.  
  21. o Editing can be done both in the hex area and in the text area. 
  22.  
  23. o New files can be created by just typing some hexadecimal values on an empty 
  24.   sheet. 
  25.  
  26. o The number of bytes shown in a line is a multiple of 8 and depends on the 
  27.   window size you choose. 
  28.  
  29. o Codepage 437 is used only. 
  30.  
  31. o The starting address can be changed by simply typing a new address over the 
  32.   top address.

  34. o Free Space is filled with zeros inside the hex area and with blanks inside 
  35.   the text area when appending bytes.

  37. o Files can be loaded from the command line.

  42. PM Hex Editor consists of three files: 
  43.  
  44.    - PMHEXED.EXE 
  45.    - PMHEXED.HLP 
  46.    - README.1ST 
  47.  
  48. PMHEXED.HLP must be in the same directory as PMHEXED.EXE. If you rename 
  49. PMHEXED.EXE you also have to rename PMHEXED.HLP.

  51. PM Hex Editor generates a file named PMHEXED.INI. This file contains 
  52. initialization information and can be deleted if you want to start with default 
  53. values.

  55. If you don't get an icon with a hex value and a ball pen when installing PM Hex 
  56. Editor onto the Desktop, you've lost the Extended Attributes attached to 
  57. PMHEXED.EXE. You should use an OS/2-unzipper to extract the files from the 
  58. archive.

  60. Changed files are not saved automatically. But you are asked whether it's ok to 
  61. proceed when you are about to lose changes. Closing PM Hex Editor from the 
  62. tasklist discards all changes. Backup files are not generated.

  87. DEL             deletes the byte under the Cursor
