PMLOOK is an OS/2 Presentation Manager file browse
utility which is extremely flexible and full-
featured. It runs under OS/2 version 1.1 and
above. If you plan to use PMLOOK as a regular
part of your OS/2 experience, please register your
copy. A single-user registration is $15.00, or
$30.00 with source code. Site license and network
server agreements are available - please contact us
for details. After we receive your payment, we
will send you an unlocking code which will
officially register your copy of PMLOOK and
eliminate the startup screen. When you send your
payment, be sure to include the exact name under
which you wish to register your copy. Again, if
you have any questions, please don't hesitate to
call us - ask for the Doctor!
--------------------------------------------------------------
A. RUNNING PMLOOK
--------------------------------------------------------------
To install PMLOOK onto your system, simply copy the file
PMLOOK.EXE into a directory of your hard disk which is on your
search path (specified by your PATH= statement in your
CONFIG.SYS). You will then be able to run PMLOOK from any
disk or directory. We now suggest that you install PMLOOK as one
of the utility programs in your OS/2 "Start Programs" window. By
doing so you will be able to access PMLOOK without dropping to
the OS/2 command line.
To use PMLOOK to view this file, you could type:
PMLOOK PMLOOK.DOC
from the OS/2 command line.
If you have not registered your copy of PMLOOK, you will at first
get the logo/registration screen. Click on "Continue" to proceed
with the program. Click on the "Register" button only when you
have received your unlocking code from Doctor Debug Software.
**** IMPORTANT NOTE ****
If your copy of PMLOOK does not come up with the registration
screen, and you haven't registered the program, someone has
distributed the program illegally. The registered user can be
found by clicking on the "About" menu bar item. Doctor Debug
Software is offering a $50.00 reward to the first person who
alerts us to such an illegal copy.

B. THE MENU BAR OPTIONS
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you specified a file to load from the OS/2 command line, it
shall be displayed at this time. Also, several options will
appear on the menu bar. Each is covered separately:
1. ABOUT
Selecting this option displays the logo/registration
screen, and can be used to determine the registered
owner of PMLOOK.
2. OPEN
This option allows you to look at a file. There are
two sub-menu items:
a. DISCARD CURRENT FILE
This means that the currently viewed file (if
any) will be discarded and the new file loaded
into the same window it occupied.
b. RETAIN CURRENT FILE
Choosing this item spawns an entirely new
PMLOOK so that you can then view both files
simultaneously. The number of concurrent
PMLOOK sessions you can have is limited only by
the normal Presentation Manager process
restrictions for your setup.
Whichever option you choose, a dialog box will ask that
you specify a filename to view.
3. SEARCH
Selecting this item brings up a dialog box which allows
you to define text to search for in the file. There are
many options from which you may choose (such as case
distinctions). When you click on "OK", the search
begins. If the text you specified is found, the
portion of the file containing it will be displayed.
Of particular note is the option which allows you to
"Find and Mark All". If you set this option, all lines
containing your search string are marked and can be
inspected using the QUICK function (below).
4. QUICK
The Quick functions allow you to move quickly within the
file you are viewing. The sub-menu items for QUICK are:
a. TO LINE
This allows you to specify a physical line
number within the file. That line will become
the top line displayed in the window.
b. TO NEXT MARK
This finds the next "marked" line (described
below). It becomes the top line displayed in
the window. If there are no more marks in the
file, this function "wraps around" to the
beginning of the file and keeps looking.
5. MARK
The MARK function allows you to mark as many lines in
the file as you wish. This is analogous to placing a
finger in a book - it indicates that you will want to
come back here and look at this line again. You may
mark as many lines as you wish. The line currently at
the top of the window is the one marked, and marked
lines are highlighted in a different color. Marking an
already marked line essentially "unmarks" the line.
6. FONT SIZE
This item allows you to choose between 8 point (tiny),
10 point (normal size) or 12 point (really quite big)
text in the window. The default is 8 point.
7. COLORS
This menu item allows you, through a rather interesting
dialog box, to custom select the colors of your PMLOOK.
The background, text, found item and marked line colors
can all be altered to fit your individual taste or lack
thereof. Selecting the sub-menu item SAVE saves these
settings so that subsequent invocations of PMLOOK use
your custom colors.

C. ONE MORE WORD FROM YOUR SPONSOR...
--------------------------------------------------------------
Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but if you like this
program, please register it. You will enjoy not having the
registration screen come popping up every time you run the
program. In addition, it is the Doctor's intent to turn this
program into a full-fledged programmer's text editor, and this
won't happen without some working capitol from registrations.
(Beta testers for the text editor will be selected from
registered PMLOOK users, if that is any incentive).
Also, Doctor Debug Software is currently in the business of
converting old dusty DOS applications to sparkling new PM
applications. If your company is looking to make the same
switch, consider letting us do it for you. Contact us at the
above address or phone number and we'll give you all the details,
including a stunning demonstration disk or our PM work.
