Pmcomm version 2.30 requires OS/2 2.0 with the service pack
,OS/2 2.1, WARP, or later!!!!
Starting with Pmcomm version 2.30, when upgrading from an version
prior to 2.30 the dialing directories must be converted by running the
install program. There is a button there that allows you to convert
dialing directories.
Make sure you delete your old setup files(setup.dat) before running
this version of Pmcomm, if you are currently using a version prior
to version 1.07. Use the OS/2 view program to view the pmcomm.inf help
file, for installation instructions. The syntax is view pmcomm.inf.
Make sure you copy the rxpmcomm.dll and rxpmc32.dll files to the
\os2\dll directory. The rxpmc32.dll is for OS/2 2.0 and later.

NEW FEATURES
From Version 2.00 of Pmcomm....
The main changes in this version are enhancements to the extended
scroll back buffer. The extended scroll back buffer is now a read-write
buffer, which will allow you to edit the information in the buffer. The
functions now available in the extended scroll back buffer are:
Import text file
SaveAs
Print Selected
Print All
Search
FindNext
Copy
Paste
Cut
Clear Selected
Clear All
Undo
Fonts
Color
The other main change is there is now an option to turn off the Variable
Zmodem headers. This was do to maintain compatiblity with certain Unix
computers. If you have problems receiving a file from a remote computer,
try turning this option off.
From Version 2.01 of Pmcomm....
The main changes with version 2.10 of Pmcomm are with the user interface.
Pmcomm now has a button bar under the menu, and a status line at the bottom
of the Pmcomm screen.
Macros can now be named and macros with text in them will be displayed as
buttons on the button bar. The name of the macro will show in the button
as well as on the macro menu. The macros hot keys have been changed so that
Alt-1 sends macro 1 instead of macro 2. This means that Alt-1 is macro 1,
Alt-2 is macro 2, Alt3 is macro 3, ect...
There is now a show button on the file transfer dialog that allows you to
display the main Pmcomm window. You can now execute commands in Pmcomm while
a file is being transferred. When the main window is showing the button in
the transfer dialog will change to hide, which will hide the main Pmcomm
window.
There is now a modem configuration selection under Options, Modem. Pmcomm
now has a data base with modems configurations stored in it. Users can now
select a modem by name, and if a modem is not in the data base the user can
add their modem to the list.
From Version 2.10 of Pmcomm....
Starting with this version there is now a installation program included. Pmcomm
can still be installed by just copying the files, but the install.exe program will create a
Pmcomm folder on the desktop and add objects for Pmcomm.exe and also a script folder,
with objects for some of the scripts. The Pmcomm object created by the install program
will already have the association setup for the .scr scripts. This allows the user to just
double click on a script object and OS/2 will invoke Pmcomm and then Pmcomm will run
the script. This is useful if you have frequently dialed numbers you can just create
scripts to dial and log you on. Then to call you can just double click on the script
object.
Pmcomm will now create objects for the scripts that are created using the Pmcomm
script generator. These objects will be added to the script folder created by the Pmcomm
install program.
There is a performance increase when using VT100 or VT220 terminal emulations.
Problems with the Dll's for REXX have been fixed.
Problems with screen sizing on certain SVGA monitors has been corrected.
From Version 2.11 of Pmcomm....
The big change in this version is the addition of keyboard re-mapping. This
feature all users to change what each of the keys sends (or commands that are executed).
The setup for the keyboard re-mapping, is done through a keyboard dialog box.
The maximum baud rate now supported by Pmcomm is 921600. There have also been additional
connect baud rates added in support of the new 28800 modems.
The Zmodem rename has been changed to rename the file name instead of the
extension. For example if you download the allfiles.txt and it already exists
the current download file name will be renamed to allfile1.txt
From Version 2.20 of Pmcomm....
Here is a list of new features added with this version:
1. User configurable Popup Menu (click on the screen with the right mouse button to
activate).
2. Com Device can be closed when not in use.
3. Com Device can be specified in the dialing directory for each entry.
4. Certain Pmcomm prompts, can be turned off.
5. Now supports the escaping of ctrl characters when doing a Zmodem file transfer.
6. The status line now includes phone expense.
7. The info button in the dialing directory will now display connect time and expense
for each of the directory entries.
From Version 2.30 of Pmcomm....
The main addition for this version is the inclusion of an online .gif viewer. This
feature will allow a user to view a GIF file while it is being downloaded. By being able
to view the file during the transfer, if the user decides that the file is not what they
wanted, they can abort the transfer.
From Version 2.31 of Pmcomm
There are two main new features with this version. The first is the
support for Multimedia. Pmcomm now allows the user to play Multimedia files
for certain events, if Multimedia is installed in OS/2. Multimedia files can
also be played from Macros. The second feature, allows Pmcomm to automatically
dial the next number in the dialing queue (if more than one number was
selected), when the last connection was completed. This will make it a lot
easier for people that normally dial more then one number at a time. Users
can now automate dialing multiple numbers without having to write a script to
do the dialing.
There has also been some changes, to the keyboard remapping and to the
Zmodem file transfer. The keyboard remapping now allows all of the alpha-
control character combination. This means that you can put in a ^B to imbed an
Ascii 2. This allows a work-around for the problem of not being able to use
the alt key and numeric key pad combination. ^A-^Z is now supported in the key
re-mapping. You can now also re-map the Alt keys independently. The Zmodem file
transfer has been modified to check to see if it is transfering a file from a
Glacticomm BBS, and it treates it differently, to increase the speed of the
transfers.
From Version 2.32 of Pmcomm
There are three now features with this version. This first is the
ability to use FTP to transfer files. This feature will only be enabled if
IBM's TCP/IP for OS/2 is installed. Pmcomm now allows you to use the FTP get,
and put commands to send/receive files from FTP servers. We also added the
ability to ping the host, so that if there is an error starting the transfer,
you can make sure that the host is responding. The second new feature, is an
option to save/restore the information on the Pmcomm screen between Pmcomm
sessions. What this means is that when you close Pmcomm, the information on
the Pmcomm screen will be saved. When Pmcomm is run again, this information
will be restored onto the Pmcomm screen. Because this information has to be
saved and restored, this feature may slow down the loading and the exiting of
Pmcomm. If this is a problem this feature can be turned off. The third new
feature is the ability to save and restore the extended scroll back buffer.
This works basically like the screen save/restore, but it only effects the
information stored in the scroll back buffer. The last two new features can
be turned off under Options, Screen.
