  1. You are now choosing a story from the list of existing
  2. story entries.  If you chose to read a story, the story
  3. you select will be displayed to you.  If you chose to
  4. add, it will be displayed (so that you can review what
  5. has already been written), and then you will enter a full-
  6. screen editor so that you can type in your contribution
  7. to the story.
  8.  
  9. In parentheses after the name of the story, you can see the
  10. total length of the story in lines.  If lines have been
  11. added to the story since the last time you read it, you
  12. will see a '*' symbol before the line count.
  13.  
  14. To choose from the menu currently on the screen, you can
  15. do one of three things:
  16.  
  17. 1. Type the highlighted letter of the option you want, or
  18.  
  19. 2. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor down to the option
  20.    you want and press the {Enter} key.
  21.  
  22. 3. If you're using a RIP terminal, click on the correct
  23.    button with your mouse.
  24.  
  25. With most terminal programs, you do *NOT* need to turn
  26. Num Lock on to use the arrow keys in this door.
  27.  
  28. If you have more stories to choose from than will fit on
  29. one screen, you can use the '-' and '+' keys to scroll up
  30. and down on the list.  If you have a change of heart ("Naw,
  31. I want to start my own story, not add to *this* junk!"),
  32. you can hit 'Q' to abort and go back to the main menu.

  34. Several "hot keys" will work at just about any time while
  35. you are in Fiction Factory.
  36.  
  37. Ctrl-Z   Brings up help.  As much as possible, FictFact will
  38.          tailor the help it provides to what you're doing
  39.          at the time, so if you're confused, give it a try!
  40.  
  41. Ctrl-O   Lists the people (if any) who are in the game on
  42.          other nodes.  You may want to send those people
  43.          messages, to chat with them, or to work on a story
  44.          together so that you can take turns adding to the tale.
  45.  
  46. Ctrl-E   Allows you to enter a one-line message to a user on
  47.          another node.
  48.  
  49. Ctrl-T   Allows you to enter chat mode.  From there, you can
  50.          /PAGE people on other nodes to chat with you.
