DOWNSORT VERSION 6.3o
■ Defaults and behaviour of Downsort changed for better (first time)
use. The environment variable 'MAXIMUS' is used to locate some
system files.
■ 2 new list-types added: HTML formatted versions of ALLFILES and
NEWFILES. These are basically the same as IPF- and IPN-lists, but
formatted with HTML-tags to be displayed with WebExplorer (tested
with 1.1f) or any HTML browser with support for HTML 3.0. A
GIF-file 'Downsort.Gif' is included for the title-page.
■ Import of File_Id.Diz contents now supported. With the keyword
'DIZimport' you can select the cases in which you want import:
never, always, with missing description or when it is too short.
See section 'Import of File_Id.Diz' in Downsort.Doc for details.
■ New keyword to skip directory scanning of areas on CDROM or to
completely ignore these (Maximus: "Type CD").
■ If an area is of "Type DateList" then file size and date will be
extracted from the corresponding Files.Bbs files.
■ New keyword to suppress the use of high-ASCII characters by Downsort
in headers and BLOCK titles.
■ If the configuration file DOWNSORT.CFG is not found or specified, a
default ALLFILES.LST is generated (provided FAREA.DAT is found).
■ Output linelength can now be specified per list individually as
extension of the -T and -W parameters.
■ The -L option is not available anymore. For Files.Bbs the filesize
and date will be part of the output if area is of "Type CD
DateList".
■ The description in Files.Bbs will not be replaced with a 'dummy'
text anymore but can be replaced with the contents of File_Id.Diz.
■ Changes in some layouts for presentation of division hierarchy, in
particular the ALLFileList summary.
■ SPLITSUM.CMD improved and renamed to DOWNSUM.CMD.
■ Changed 'Downsort.Key' encoding algorithm. 'Downsort.Key' will be
updated automatically (if not 'read-only'!). Make a copy of the old
key to allow fallback to 6.2!
■ Change in Downsort's signature for more apparent registration proof.
■ Added a file DOWNSORT.FAQ for some frequently asked questions and
the answers, mainly concerning unexpected or undesired behaviour of
Downsort.
■ Added some sections in Downsort.Doc about:
∙ "Runtime considerations" to explain the use of configuration
files
∙ the calculation of file age
■ The functional extensions made that Downsort grew over the infamous
64KB boundary for the (16-bits) code segment. This forces a
selection of a 'large' memory model, which made DOWNSRT1.EXE grow
more than proportional compared to version 6.2.
Bug fixes
■ Listed files in IPNFileList now obey the specifications.
■ Solved runtime error R6001 in DOS environment.
■ Sorts where the filename is involved changed to case-dependent!
Lower case filenames are converted to upper case during data
collection, and the case-independent sort gave a wrong sequence,
especially with filenames containing the underscore character.
■ Corrections in calculation of file-age: now takes into account
leap-year and timezone.
■ All file dates now accepted (limit to year 2057 removed).
■ 'Offline' files not reported anymore in lists with limit on
file-age.
■ Correction in some sorts: performance improvement!
■ Correction in handling of explicit path spec in Files.Bbs.
■ Semaphore file 'Downsort.Bsy' now more consistently removed, also
under some error-conditions.
