***** 02-02-97 ***** aPOP3d v1.20 released to public *****
Nothing changed from v1.16.
***** 01-28-97 ***** aPOP3d v1.16 released to registerd users *****
Add: aCollect now features a "collect&parse" mode which allows you
to fetch mail for all local users from one POP3 account, parse
them either for username (parameter: -cpu) or for real name
(parameter: -cpr) and stores the mail in the appropriate mailbox
Fix: APOP3D.EXE refused to accept a USER command after if any other
command was send before
Chg: For ACCOUNTS.EXE you have to specify a size parameter now.
Size of 0 will turn mail encryption off. Any bigger figure will
set the maximum mail size that will be encrypted.
***** 01-18-97 ***** aPOP3d v1.15 released to registerd users *****
Add: there is now a add-on module named "aCollect". You may specify
a remote POP3 host for each user on your system. aCollect will
check on these hosts for new mail, retrieve those mails and stores
them on the local system from which every user may retrieve it
via POP3. aCollect is especially useful for machines/LANs which
dial up to their ISP only from time to time.
Chg: In the process of adding aCollect the complete TCP/IP functionality
has be rewritten and reorganized. It should be more stable now due
to the better structured code as well as other improvements.
Chg: APOP3D.EXE uses much less system resource while POP3 session are active.
This has been achieved by increasing the time between each check for new
received data at the TCP/IP socket by some factor. Fast POP3 connections
are still served fast but slow ones are processed slower too.
***** 12-29-96 ***** aPOP3d v1.14 released to registerd users *****
Chg: semaphore management and user database access have been improved
again and feature extensive error logging in case of semaphore
conflicts.
Chg: AMAIL2.EXE is no longer neccessary since Sendmail will be invoked
dircetly by AMAIL.EXE for sending mails.
Chg: ACCOUNTS.EXE now really shows the login time of "this month" instead of
the login time of the last monst the user was active
Fix: if a mail from mail processor was received and sender notification
was active for the receipient AMAIL.EXE tried to send a notification
to the mail processor which of course doesn't make sense
***** 11-20-96 ***** aPOP3d v1.13 released to registerd users *****
Chg: some files have been renamed: MAIL.EXE->AMAIL.EXE,
MAIL2.EXE->AMAIL2.EXE, POP3D.EXE->APOP3D.EXE. There is a new
ASHARED.DLL which is now the central DLL for aPOP3d and aDialIn
Don't forget to modify your sendmail.cf for AMAIL.EXE accordingly!!!
Chg: the semaphore management has been completely rewritten which should
allow all aPOP3d/aDialIn components to work together even in
critical situations
Fix: the way AMAIL2.EXE is started by AMAIL.EXE has been changed since it
could not be started ("General failure") if Sendmail 2.x was used on
that system
Add: there is a new option ("accounts -u") which will allow you to
specify an existing mailbox on your machine to which all incoming
emails addressed to unkown users will be redirected. Normally they
are bounced.
***** 10-17-96 ***** aPOP3d v1.12 released to registerd users *****
Chg: the POP3 server (APOP3D.EXE) has been notably tuned for speed;
the mail handling has been changed to allow this speed improvement
but you have to convert your mailbox first (using SCANMBOX.EXE);
Chg: the logging of the POP3 server now defaults to off for speed
improvemts too
