|o|.MISSION BACKGROUND|g
|<Griffon 2-6. Blaming the democratic leadership for Cambodia's economic problems, a military junta executed a bloody coup. Once in power, the junta opened Cambodia to the Southeast Asian drug trade. They promised the Cambodian people that the drug trade would create wealth and prosperity for everyone. The drug operations did generate a great deal of financial gain. Instead of benefiting the people, the money was used to enrich the leaders of the junta. Now the junta has embarked on a massive military build-up. Their growing military strength has emboldened the junta to make demands on its neighbors and threaten the stability of the entire region.
Faced with this growing threat, the member-nations of ASEAN petitioned the UN Security Council to help them remove the junta and reestablish the democratically elected government in Cambodia. The Security Council voted unanimously to initiate a joint UN/ASEAN mission to help the Cambodian people and stabilize the region.

As a first step towards that goal, enemy river patrols and transports operating up and down the Mekong River must be stopped. This is your job, Griffon 2-6. Good hunting.
