  2. The most often asked question I got about my other themes was 
  3. "How do I install it?".  It seems there were a number of people 
  4. that didn't know you needed the "Plus!" pack from Microsoft in 
  5. order to have the "Desktop Themes" control panel.  Now, I have 
  6. seen a few third party utilities showing up that allows for 
  7. installation of themes without having the Plus! pack.  This 
  8. is a good thing.  There was nothing on the Plus! CD that was 
  9. worth the $50 MS was asking for it.  But without it you didn't 
  10. have the control panel for making the themes active.

  13. Installation:

  15. Assuming you have either the Plus! pack or a third party theme 
  16. installer already installed, all you have to do to get the 
  17. Carmageddon theme running is this:

  19. 1. Unzip the CarmaTheme.Zip file into your "Themes" directory.
  20.    (This is ususally C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes )  Make sure 
  21.    that the option to "Create stored directory structures" is 
  22.    on.  What you should then find in the themes directory is a 
  23.    folder named Carmageddon and a file called "Carmageddon.Theme".

  25.    Note: I put all of my theme files into a subdirectory to make 
  26.          removing them much easier.  Let's face it, every theme 
  27.          gets old after a while.

  29. 2. After unzipping the file all you have to do is open the 
  30.    Desktop Themes control panel (if you're using Plus!) or 
  31.    whatever else you are using to install themes and select 
  32.    the Carmageddon theme from the list.

  37. If you want to replace the Startup and Shutdown screens for Windows 
  38. then see the file "Banner Screen Installation Instructions.txt" for 
  39. instructions.  (It's really easy)
