  6. Netscape Communications Corp. have defined their own extensions for HTML
  7. which they are trying to work into the future HTML standards.  This page
  8. shows the colouring control extensions which they have introduced.  This
  9. version also contains a preliminary implementation of the background sprite
  10. tiling!  The image was taken from Netscape's own <a
  11. href="http://www.netscape.com/assist/net_sites/bg/backgrounds.html">
  12. sample backgrounds</a> which are freely downloadable.

  14. If you have the Netscape extensions switched off (on the Options menu) then
  15. you will not see any difference in the colour styles.  The option was
  16. provided for people who wish to use <256 colour modes for whom some of the
  17. colours may be unreadable.

  20. Another Netscape invention is font sizing: <font size=5>This is size 5 text, <font size=-3>
  21. and this is size 2.</font>

  23. The latest changes made by Netscape include the ability to <font color=#000000>
  24. change colour</font> in the middle of a render.  I have also added the ability
