  1. Deirdre's Chocolate Lovers Brownies

  3. I have tried dozens of brownie recipes over the years and I finally got
  4. one that has the right flavor and the right consistency.  Many thanks to
  5. Deirdre Christman for this fool-proof (it worked for me!) and easy one..

  7. Ingredients:
  8.  
  9. 2 sticks of unsalted butter
  10. 4 squares of unsweetened chocolate
  11. 2 cups sugar (I like a tad less)
  12. 4 eggs (if they are jumbo use only 3)
  13. 1 cup flour
  14. pinch salt
  15. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  16. 1 cup chocolate chips
  17. 1 cup walnuts (optional)

  19. Technique:

  21. Melt butter and chocolate slowly in a pot large enough to hold all of
  22. the ingredients.  Cool slightly then add sugar and then beat in one egg
  23. at a time.  Then add vanilla and all of the rest of the ingredients,
  24. mixing enough just to blend the flour.

  26. Spread evenly into a greased 9 X 13 pan and bake in a pre-heated 350 degree
  27. oven for 25 minutes.

  29. Cool several hours before trying to cut or remove from pan.
