  1. This is the (latest ;-) ) Installation Guide for the Demo-Version of SORCERERS!
  2.  
  3. After having downloaded the !Spark-archives 'Disc1of5' - 'Disk5of5' 
  4. and the archives containing the languages 'Deutsch' and/or 'English',
  5. you'll have to perform the following steps to get a working copy:
  6.  
  7.  1. If you don't have a Harddisk, throw this stuff away.
  8.  2. If you have one, be prepared to have 6 formated discs on hand,
  9.     800 kB ADFS E-Format each (7 for the bilingual version).
  10.  3. Name the discs 'Disc1of5', 'Disc2of5', 'Disc3of5', 'Disc4of5',
  11.     'Disc5of5', 'Deutsch' (and/or 'English'). (Note that they _have_
  12.     to be named Disc1of5, not DISC1OF5, else installation won't work)
  13.  4. Unpack the archives on the relating Discs using !SparkPlug 2.x
  14.     Now you should have the !Summoner and Data1 in the root-directory
  15.     of Disc1of5, Data2 on Disc2of5, ... and the (two) Resources-
  16.     folder(s) on the (two) language-disc(s).
  17.  5. Double-click over the !Summoner-Icon on Disc1of5. 
  18.     This will install its Icon on the Iconbar. 
  19.  6. After pressing MENU over the Iconbar you will be presented with an 
  20.     installation-menu.
  21.     Choosing the desired language and dragging the Icon to a filer 
  22.     window will start the installation. Just follow the instructions 
  23.     given to perform the installation onto your Harddisk.
  24.  7. If you want to install both languages, repeat step 6., but click 
  25.     on "Language only" this time. Also don't forget to set the correct 
  26.     language ;-) 
  27.     (Be aware to have ~9 MB free if you want to install the bilingual
  28.     Version)
  29.  8. After the installation press MENU over the Icon on the Iconbar again
  30.     and perform the Operation "Configure" to choose the options fitting
  31.     your machine's configuration best (Note that for machines other than
  32.     the Risc PC a screen-refresh of 85 Hz is suggested).
  33.  9. If you didn't make errors during installation, the demo should
  34.     boot up after double-clicking onto the !SorcDemo-icon on your
  35.     Harddisk now.
  36.    
  37.     However if it doesn't, don't hesistate to contact me 
  38.     (see e-mail address below).

  40. NOTES: * This version of Sorcerers! is not going to be released as it 
  41.          stands, at least not in the near future (Maybe later as bonus-
  42.          track on the CD-version or even as Shareware product when the
  43.          new version is out for a while).
  44.  
  45.        * We hired new graphicians and programmers, rewrote most of the 
  46.          text and hope, that an all new Sorcerers! game which will give 
  47.          more honour to the plot will appear on Acorn early 1996, 
  48.          and mid 1996 on MS DOS (well, we`ll have to get back the 
  49.          additional costs).
  50.  
  51.        * The new Sorcerers! "Deluxe" will feature Super VGA graphics
  52.          (640x400) and on Acorn machines probably hardware scrolling, 
  53.          which will speed up things a little. We are still in negotiations 
  54.          about the soundtrack, but this time we will record it at a studio
  55.          and computerize it later. 
  56.  
  57.        * A short slideshow giving more detailed information and some
  58.          pre-release-graphics will appear later this year at this place 
  59.          (hopefully in September), because we are interested to get your 
  60.          comments in an earlier stage than we got them when we were 
  61.          developing Sorcerers! (the current one).

  63. We thank you for all comments on this Demo of Sorcerers! we got up to now.
  64.  
  65.        * Finally I'd like to point out again, that the game was developed 
  66.          for use with an ARM3 or the RiscPC, so don't be surprised if it's 
  67.          pretty slow on a machine containing an ARM250 or even an ARM2.
