  1. * Nearly all archives now have file extenders:
  2. xxx.spk: Spark archive
  3. xxx.zip: Zip archive
  4. xxx.arc, xxx.archive: this can be nearly everything....

  6. These archives can be decompressed with Sparkplug 2.23
  7. (archivers/splug.sfx).

  9. * Other archive types:
  10. xxx.Z: compress
  11. xxx.gz: GNU-Zip (gzip)
  12. xxx.tar: tar
  13.  
  14. Look in the directory "archivers" for the corresponding cruncher.
  15.  
  16. * Text files:
  17. xxx.txt, xxx.info, README
  18.  
  19. If a file doesn't have an extender, it is either a text file or an
  20. unrecognized archive (those archives should disappear as soon as I
  21. have some time for this :)

  23. * Some files are neither text files nor archives. Those files have a
  24. special extender which tells you what type it is (e.g. xyz.absolute is
  25. a RiscOS executable).

  27. Please note that most README's don't use the extenders in the
  28. descriptions!
