Subject: Troubleshooting Common 800
Series Errors
Keywords: Database, Errors, Warnings
Network Archivist Version: 2.0 through 2.0g
Palindrome Backup Director: 2.1
Troubleshooting Common 800 Series Errors
804 Error
These errors occur during the restoration of files from tape. If the
source volume is currently accessible on the network, then TNA
expects to find a TNA directory and a set of history database files
in the TNA directory (*.PAC files). You may have to temporarily add
the source volume to the Protect Volume List.
806 Error
This error indicates that the Network Archivist or (Palindrome Backup
Director was unable to locate the System Control Database. Make sure
to map a search drive to the installation directory.
807 Error
Verify that the history databases (*.PAC files) are in the TNA
directory on the volume. Also make sure that you have a search map
to the TNA installation directory. Also this can be caused by NETX
versions 3.22 and 3.26, so try upgrading to 3.31 or higher.
810 Errors
On DOS installations be sure that there is at least 520k ram
available in DOS. Check to see if there are seven files ending with
the extention PAC in the TNA directory. If not you will need to run
TNARECOV and recover file history for the volume. If you are using
the DOS version of TNA then make sure that in CONFIG.SYS that file
handles are set to at least 20. Also make sure that there is enough
space on the volume for Palindrome's databases.
811 Errors
Look to see if there is another database preceeding this error, if so
look to see how to handle that particular error. If there is no
error preceeding the 811 then the possible problem could be the
version of NETX being used. In particular Palindrome recommends not
using versions 3.22 or 3.26 of NETX when you encounter the stand
alone 811 error. Upgrade to higher versions of NETX such as 3.31 or
3.32. Also see Tech Note TN93-005.ASC for more on this error.
813 Errors
This error is always the result of some previous error that required
TNARECOV to be run but TNARECOV has not been invoked yet. Look in
the error log for a previous error and look to see how to trouble
shoot the actual error.
897 Warning
This is an indication that the control database and the file history
database for a give volume are not in sync. This message is usually
harmless and will occur anytime that file history databases are
restored from tape. As long as the SC has a later date and time
stamp than the FH, you can ignore this warning.
