PAMS BASIC INFORMATION
======================
Are you sick of rumaging around in a pile of old magazines trying to
find the latest PAMS listings ? Maybe you're tired of having to load an
editor or word processor to search through the list you have on disk for
that elusive number ? Do people abuse you when you call them at 1am expecting
to log on to a BBS ?
If you have answered YES to any of there questions , READ ON.......
WHAT does PAMS do ?
Basically PAMS is a self contained data base of all the current
Australian BBS's,RCP/M's etc.After extracting PAMS to a suitable disk (I keep
mine on my A drive as it only occupies 16k and is always there), type <PAMS>
and you will be presented with a simple prompt. For starters type in the name
of your favourite BBS (or just a couple of letters will do). The screen will
now display (after typing return) ALL currently listed BBS's with that name
or combination of letters.
You may also type in STD area codes,parts of phone numbers or even modem
speeds,such is the versitility of PAMS.Obviously the more information you
provide the more selective will be the search. Typing just <0> for example
will display EVERY listed for the WHOLE of Australia !!!!
Whilst typing <EXCALIBUR> willlist only one.
CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.
===========================
At this point I must give credit to Joe Wright who wrote the original
code (called AREA10) that this current program was adapted from.And also
his willingness for this to be re-distributed in this form.
If you change any of the main body of code (.ASM supplied) please
resubmit to him.You may do this, if you like,via ME by any of the
following ways:
1: Leave the new file and a message on EXCALIBUR BBS
(I WILL see it)
2: Leave a message in the CP/M ECHO area on FIDO
(I will see it DOZENS of times)
3: Leave a message in the PROGRAMMERS conference on FIDO
(I may NEVER see it)
4: Call me at home (Good Luck).Find my number by typing
Mike at the PAMS prompt.
WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE
=====================
Given some encouragement (and not too many complaints) I will continue
to update PAMS at monthly intervals or whenever "THE PROPHET SPEAKS".
Planned improvements include : Addition of "ACCESS" status
Addition of "NETWORK" numbers
Maybe even some code changes to
make the searches more selective
and a general clean up.
SO if you wish to have PAMS on a regular basis let's have some
FEEDBACK !!!
