INTRODUCTION
PRINTMASTER does not allow modification or creation of graphic shapes
on a Microbee computer.
PMEDIT is a graphics editor for use with all MICROBEEs (64K, 128K
standard and Premiums, and 256TC) and allows the user to Create new
or Modify existing `graphics pictures' for use with PRINTMASTER. It
is `user friendly', features extensive editing features including
Line and Circle (including elipse) drawing, invert and flip picture,
and allows input from keyboard as well as joystick.
Associated files for graphic pictures as supplied on your PRINTMASTER disk are SLIB.SDR and SLIB.SHP. ULIB.SDR and ULIB.SHP are supplied on
PRINTMASTER ART GALLERY disks. PMEDIT will create ART GALLERY files
(ULIB) on disks when no .SDR and .SHP files are found.
NOTE - PRINTMASTER expects to find ART GALLERY (ULIB) files when the
user attempts to `Choose a graphic from another disk'.
RUN INSTRUCTIONS
To run PMEDIT either select PMEDIT from the SHELL or enter the
command:
PMEDIT
If your Microbee has 128K RAM or greater the system will prompt -
Enter drive for data disk A-M
to allow you to select which drive you want to use for retrieving and
saving Printmaster pictures. You must insert the disk containing your
`picture' files in the disk selected when directed to do so by PMEDIT.
RUN COMMANDS
Most Commands are displayed on the right side of the screen.
The full list of commands are -
^E (CTRL E) move cursor up. } use
^S move cursor left. } `cursor control'
^D move cursor right. } keys on
^X move cursor down. } Premium series
T toggle dot on/off.
E Set ERASE mode
D Set DRAW mode
M Set MOVE mode
* <BACK SPACE> clear screen.
M Set Marker - marker flashes on screen
at double cursor flash rate.
When Marker is set the screen
is also saved for Undo.
L Draw Line from Marker to cursor.
C Draw Circle with centre at Marker.
Note when the cursor in not 45
degrees from the Marker then an
elipse rather than a circle will be
drawn.
I Invert picture.
H Flip picture horizontally.
U Undo (return screen contents to what
it was when last M or ^U).
^U Store current screen (for Undo).
S Save picture to disk.
* R Retrieve existing picture from disk.
* <ESC> Quit (also returns control to
previous action at any prompt).
When commands marked with an asterisk (*) are used and the screen
contains a picture which has been worked on and not Saved to disk
the system will prompt the user -
Save changes?
thus preventing the accidental loss of a picture.
Multiple `cursor direction' keys may be held down at the same time to
move diagonally and the `toggle key' may also be held down at the
same time as the cursor is moved. A joystick may be used to move the
cursor and toggle points.
FILE ACCESSES (R and S)
The files which contain the `graphic shape names' and associated
shape data are SLIB.SDR and SLIB.SHP and were supplied on your
original PRINTMASTER disk. ULIB.SDR and ULIB.SHP also contain
similar data and are found on PRINTMASTER ART GALLERY disks.
PMEDIT will ALWAYS attempt to access SLIB.SDR (and SLIB.SHP) before
attempting to access ULIB.SDR (and ULIB.SHP).
RETRIEVING PICTURES (R)
On input of R the system prompts the user to `Insert data disk in
drive * and press <CR>' (* is the disk initially selected). The
system then searches the disk for SLIB.SDR or ULIB.SDR . If found
a menu of the `pictures' currently in the file is displayed. To
select a `picture' use the cursor `up' and `down' keys to move the
`cursor' ( > < ) up and down the columns and <RETURN> to select
the `picture' required. To view the next screen full of `picture
names' select NEXT PAGE (last name on screen).
SAVING PICTURES (S)
On input of S and an existing picture was used to create the
current picture on the screen the system prompts -
<M>odify existing or <C>reate new picture
If M is entered then the existing picture data in the file is
overwritten. If C is entered then the system prompts -
Enter graphic name
and then prompts -
Insert data disk into drive * and press <CR> (return)
and then searches for a SLIB or ULIB file and adds the picture to
the file found (duplicate graphic names not permitted) or creates
ULIB files if no files are found.
Note the disk should NOT be changed if Modifying an existing
`picture'.
On input of S and an existing picture was NOT used to create the
current picture on the screen the system prompts for a graphic name
and to insert data disk into drive * (as above) and adds the picture
to the file found. ULIB files are created if no files are found.
