  1. The files misc.* are the archives of the unmoderated
  2. comp.protocols.kermit.misc newsgroup, broken up into chunks of
  3. approximately 1MB each.  Until some time in 1997 we said they were
  4. "complete, unexpurgated" but now that the volume of spams,
  5. get-rich-quick schemes, and pornography have begun to overwhelm
  6. the Kermit-related messages, these are edited out.  Disk space
  7. costs money.

  9. The filenames are misc.yyyymmdd-yyyymmdd, which give the date
  10. of the first and last message in each file.  Each archive is about
  11. one megabyte.

  13. The CURRENT file contains the current messages.  The HISTORY
  14. file contains messages pertaining to the history of the Kermit
  15. newsgroups.
