-
- Welcome to the world of RBBS-PC! As a Sysop (System Operator)
- I am sure you will share many of the same positive experiences that
- I and other Sysops have enjoyed since first setting up RBBS. In
- addition to the many hours of enjoyment it has provided as a hobby,
- I can honestly say that the friends I have met through RBBS-PC are
- some of the best friends life can provide. Many of those who I
- count as my closest friends today are friends I have met through my
- bulletin board.

- ------------>>>> ABOUT RBBS-IN-A-BOX <<<<------------
-
- About the collection: This CD-ROM represents the fruits of
- seven years of daily work as a Sysop. Literally thousands of hours
- have gone into maintaining the BBS as well as tracking and caring
- for the files you find permenantly etched on this CD-ROM. This
- disc, with a collection of over 15,000 file entries, represents
- over 100,000 individual files which, if extracted from their
- respective ZIP files would occupy over 1.4 Gigabytes of space!!
- And you have it all at your fingertips! The process of organizing,
- duplicate file checking and prepartion for CD-ROM production for just
- this one update took over 400 man hours to complete. We hope you
- like the results.
-
- About the layout: The files are organized alphabetically.
- The files are distributed across 61 subdirectories named with the
- first four characters of the last file in that directory. Thus,
- the file POSTER.ZIP would be in the POOL subdirectory, since
- alphabetically it falls between PHON and POOL. While there are
- umpteen possible ways to structure a CD-ROM, we felt this was as
- reasonable as any others we considered. For those running BBS
- systems other than RBBS, there is a FILES.BBS file list in each
- subdirectory.
-
- About GIF files: The GIF format for PC graphics has become
- popular over the past few years and many GIF files are sent to
- RBBS-PC of Chicago every week. The problem is that there is seldom
- accompanying documentation providing artist and copyright
- information. Unfortunately, there has been wholesale copying of
- materials from all forms of magazines without consideration of who
- owns the rights to what. For this reason we have NOT included GIF
- files on this disc. If someone wants to take the legal risk of a
- copyright infringement case (statutory damages can exceed $10,000
- per violation), feel free to add all the GIFs you want to your
- collection!
-
- Enjoy!
