  1. Q. I get strange crashes when running game in full screen mode. 
  2. A. Most likely crash will cause an invalid page fault.
  3.     To fix the problem try changing the monitor driver that you are using.
  4.     You can do this through the display properties on the settings tab.
  5.     Then choose change display type button.  Change the monitor
  6.     to a generic super vga driver.

  8. Q.  What can I tweak for networking?
  9. A.  Networking default values have been set up for high latency situations such
  10.     as dial-up Internet play.  For other networking setups, such as Ethernet
  11.     IPX, you can change the following variables.
  12.     The server and clients must have the same values set.
  13.     cl_smoothframes (default 4) = number of frames to smooth motion over, if set too high then
  14.         the control will be "skatey" and you'll not appear where you really are. If set too
  15.         low, then you'll see snaps to new positions when moving quickly.  
  16.         For LAN play, a value of 2 is recommended.
  17.     cl_smoothcorrectionmax (default 200) = maximum distance from actual to displayed position.
  18.         This is the value which determines if the screen will just snap to the new position.

  20. Q. Why does the game crash with a page fault?
  21. A. If the game crashes the first time you run, you most likely have an older version
  22.     of DirectX installed.  You must have DirectX 5.0 installed to run MageSlayer.
  23.     To install it, on the cd, run \DirectX5\DirectX\dxsetup.exe.

  25. Q. Why won't my AVIs play?
  26. A. You must have a sound card to view the AVIs.

  28. Q. What's going on when the game says loading, then goes to a black screen?
  29. A. If the game cannot find a sound card, it will warn you with a message box.
  30.     On some older video cards, this message will be hidden by a black screen,
  31.     just hit ENTER to continue.

  33. Q. How do I change my quickSave slot?
  34. A. use the console command setSaveSlot X, where X is the slot you'd like 0..7
