  3. Thank you for using this software. 
  4. Since this is a "software MIDI tone generator," it differs significantly 
  5. from most conventional applications, so please read this document before 
  6. installing the software.
  7. Your use of this software is conditioned on your acceptance of the terms 
  8. given in "License.txt".  You must read the license before you use the 
  9. software. (The license will also be displayed when you install the software.)

  11. Except for applicable items within the troubleshooting section, version 
  12. numbers have been omitted. All of this information applies to either model, 
  13. the S-YXG50 V.3 or S-YG20 V.3.

  16. To avoid causing problems on your computer, be sure to read "Operating 
  17. environment" and "Installation/un-installation procedure" before you 
  18. install the software.

  21. This software can be used for 90 days after installation or until the final 
  22. expiration date of December 31, 1999.

  24. * Expiration message (WARNING)
  25. When the expiration date is near, a warning message will be displayed either 
  26. A) when a MIDI application is started up or B) MIDI playback is started while 
  27. the SXG driver is selected as the MIDI tone generator. 
  28. When this occurs, please take one of the following actions.
  29.    (1) Delete the software as explained below in "Un-installation procedure"
  30.    (2) Purchase "software to defeat the expiration date" as described below
  31.     
  32. * Even if you re-install the identical version after the software has expired, 
  33.   components other than the XGplayer will not function.
  34. * Please be aware that no user support is provided for the trial version.

  67. CPU power of your computer to produce sound.

  115. 4. Installation / un-installation procedure

  117. If a SoftSynthesizer (S-YG20 etc.) is already installed, you must first 
  118. un-install it (delete the software).

  121.     1. Double-click setup.exe
  122.     2. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the installation.
  123.     3. Re-start Windows, and the software will be available for use.

  125.     < Un-installing the SoftSynthesizer >
  126.     1. Click on Start - Program (P) - "YAMAHA SoftSynthesizer S-YXGxxx" 
  127.        - [Un-install S-YXGxxx].
  128.     2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  129.     3. Re-start Windows to complete the procedure.

  131.     For version 3 alone, you can also delete the software using "Add or 
  132.         remove an application."

  134.        Attempting to delete the software in any other 
  135.            way will cause problems!

  138. 5. Troubleshooting
  139.  
  140. If due to an unsuccessful installation etc. you are unable to correctly 
  141. un-install the software, you will need to use the following procedure to 
  142. re-install. If you failed in an attempt to delete S-YXG20 or S-YXG50 files 
  143. that you were previously using, you will also need to delete these files.
  144.  (Refer to the online help after installation.)

  147.   Depending on your settings in Windows, files which actually exist may not 
  148.   be shown on the screen. Please be sure to check this. (This setting will 
  149.   not affect the operation of your computer.)
  150.      (1) Right-click on [Start] and select [Explorer]
  151.      (2) From the menu at the top, select [View]-[Options].
  152.      (3) Select [Display all files].
  153.      (4) Un-check the [Don't show registered filename extensions] box.

  260. 6. Purchasing <Software to defeat the expiration> to upgrade to a full license
  261.  
  262. The SoftSynthesizer is not sold as a "full commercial version."
  263. After you have tried out the trial version, you may purchase and download a 
  264. Key Program (subsequently referred to as "KeyPRG") which can be installed to 
  265. defeat the expiration date (without un-installing the trial version).
  266.  
  267. Two versions of KeyPRG are available.
  268.  - 20v3key: For the S-YG20 V.3 trial version
  269.  - 50v3key: For the S-YXG50 V.3 trial version
  270.  
  271. "KeyPRG" will work (i.e., will defeat the expiration date) even on an installed 
  272. trial version whose expiration date has already elapsed. It will also work on 
  273. all trial versions that are minor updates (increases in version number below 
  274. the decimal point), so you will always be able to use the latest version with a 
  275. full license.
