RRSP Planner (v0.1)
The purpose of this program is to aid in establishing goals
for RRSP deposits to be made in order to achieve a specified level
of retirement income (based on that RRSP).
The program requires you to estimate the number of years until
your retirement, the number of years you expect to live in retirement,
the inflation rates both before and after retirement, your RRSP growth
rates both before and after retirement, and the annual income derived
from your RRSP (stated in today's terms) that you feel will be
satisfactory in retirement. In addition you can input the current value
of your RRSP. The program contains defaults for all of these numbers,
and those defaults appear in brackets with each question asked.
Once the inputs have been made, the program will compute the
annual RRSP contributions which you must make beginnning immediately
in order to achieve your retirement income goal. This amount must
be contributed each year and increased by the annual amount of inflation
in order for your RRSP to be able to pay out the necessary income, also
indexed for inflation each year, upon your retirement. The remaining
RRSP (perhaps RRIF) funds are assumed to continue to grow at the rate
specified for growth after retirement. If your RRSP is already sufficient,
the program will estimate the excess annual income which will be generated
at retirement.
This program is FREEWARE. You may use and distribute it freely provided
that you make no attempt to profit from any such distribution. The value of
this program is what you have paid for it. I do not warrant the program to
be error free and can assume no responsibility for any actions which you
might take due to errors. I have manually checked some sets of results and
these are correct. You should give any answers which you recieve a reality
check, and perhaps even a detailed check if you must rely upon this program
or its results.
If you have any suggestions for enhancements or find any errors, please
send electronic mail to david.sumner@canrem.com.
