  22.         PAF is an extremely good, inexpensive way for genealogists to
  23.         organize their data. A utility program is included with PAF which
  24.         is used as an organizational tool. This program is entitled
  25.         Research Data Filer and allows the input of genealogical events
  26.         for a person. The events can be linked to related individuals and
  27.         can also be linked with an associated documentation file.

  29.         RDF can indeed help to organize a research effort. It is
  30.         especially helpful in identifying an ancestor from a list of
  31.         possible candidates.  However, despite it's usefulness, it has one
  32.         glaring weakness: it is essentially a dead end data base with only
  33.         printed output possible.  RDF2GED attempts to overcome this
  34.         problem by providing an outlet for RDF data to either a GEDCOM
  35.         file or to an ascii/comma delimited file.

  37.         RDF2GED reads PAF's RDF data and produces a GEDCOM file suitable
  38.         for reading into a genealogy system, a straight ASCII file, or a
  39.         comma delimited file. Information stored in RDF's files is
  40.         included in the GEDCOM file and information from an associated
  41.         RDF.DOC file can be included as notes, if desired. The GEDCOM file
  42.         is a series of one or two generation links which can then be
  43.         merged into multi-generation linkages with any genealogy program
  44.         supporting GEDCOM. The ASCII file is a series of 256 character
  45.         records which can be read into a word processing program and used
  46.         in a multitude of ways including printing. The comma delimited
  47.         file is a variable length file suitable for reading into a data
  48.         base or BASIC program.
