Use of Pcanywhere, Close-up, Carbon Copy with V series Modems
In the modem setup where you have a choice of modems. Pick
Hayes (smartmodem) 2400 or Hayes 2400 compatible. Set your speed
(19,200 is best) and RTS/CTS flow control. You do NOT want the
software to follow connect speed, but be at locked DTE (modem-
computer) speed. If you are calling non 'V' modems, then put &Q6
in additional inititialization string. (AT&Q6 followed by the
software's carraige return character(s), some use \ some use
^M some may use something else).
Hayes V series modems have some proprietary commands (non -
CCITT) which will cause an error used with a Zoom V series modem.
It is recommended that you use a non-existent COMport (3 or
4), or REMOVE serial 2 rather than just disabling serial 2.
One other hint may be felpful, if you have trouble at
14,400bps. Put this string in User...
ATS37=9N0 (^M ?) which tells the modem to conect at 9600. (ask
PcAnywhere about the ^M).
TURBO modem users - add S36=7 to the INIT string (or
addititional init).
