  1.                      IDE/serial card combos

  3. 2:> A problem with internal modems comes when a computer uses  an
  4. IDE  controller  card that has built-in serial ports.  Often  the
  5. modem  will  not work (com 3/4) or the mouse (com 1/2)  will  not
  6. work when the modem is installed. An IDE controller, and seperate
  7. comport card works OK.

  10.      I had one dealer on the phone who had an IDE/serial card  in

  12. a  computer he was setting up. Portutil scrambled the screen  and

  14. went  back  to prompt. He took out the IDE/serial and  put  in  a

  16. plain IDE and Portutil and MTEZ would both work.  He than put  in
  17.  
  18. a plain serial card (for Com1/2).
