Happy Holidays from the WR-BBS Headquarters BBS!
In less than a month, WR-BBS will be officially released. You do not have to
be a SysOp (or have a copy of WR-BBS) to use the WR-BBS Headquarters BBS. If
you are a SysOp and are unhappy with your BBS software, or if you are toying
with the idea of starting a board, you owe it to yourself to try WR-BBS, when
it becomes available in January, 1993. The WR-BBS Headquarters BBS will be
the support BBS for SysOps running WR-BBS.
If you noticed that this system seemed less responsive during the past 6 days
or so, this is because of a "torture test" that I was conducting with WR-BBS.
I was running the program on a Toshiba T-1000XE laptop (which is an XT), with
a V32.bis modem and the DTE locked at 19,200 baud. This unusual combination
of low-performance PC and high performance modem was part of my beta test for
support of error-correcting modems. It tested well, but ran noticably slower
due to the XT and the sluggish UART that was in it. As of December 5th, the
BBS is back on the 386SX-16 that it usually runs on, with a Hayes SmartModem
2400.
As always, thanks for your patience during the beta testing.
