Almost Finished Features
────────────────────────
WJS is still in its early days. Full mouse support has not yet found
their way into all screens. There may be some good reports I have not
thought of, so please put your two cents in!
Late-Breaking News
──────────────────
10/07/92 ── 1.1a Enhanced docs. Increased # of jobs from 999 to 26000.
09/11/92 ── 1.1 Printer support enhanced; more printers added
File List
─────────
Unregistered Edition files:
FILE_ID.DIZ BBS file [*]
DESC.SDI Same as FILE_ID.DIZ [*]
WJS.EXE What Job Summary? programme
INSTALL.EXE Installation programme (not included in ZIP/LZH archives)
Note: INSTALL does not copy itself to your hard disk
WJS.HLP Help file
PRINTER.DAT Printer definitions
FKEY.LST Support file (function key list)
ORDER.FRM Order form for all of my software
WJS.TXT Manual in ASCII "generic" printer format [*]
WJS.WP Manual in WordPerfect 5 format [*]
VENDOR.DOC Information for Shareware distributors [*]
SYSOP.DOC Information for bulletin board sysops [*]
READ.ME This file [*]
The above files may be copied & shared freely as a complete, unmodified
set. Files marked with [*] are not needed during operation of WJS and may be
deleted from a disk if space is a premium, however, please include _all_ of
the files in copies of WJS you distribute. I would appreciate it if you
would keep the ORDER.FRM file handy on your disk until you decide whether
WJS suits your needs. Thank you!
The Registered Edition is provided with the file CONFIG.WJS which
contains the registration "stamp." CONFIG.WJS is to be used only by the
registered user ── please do not distribute.
Installation Notes
──────────────────
If you received your copy of WJS on disk it has an installation programme
on it. Using INSTALL is faster than installing/updating manually and it
will not touch your AUTOEXEC or CONFIG. Just put the floppy in a drive and
type "d:INSTALL" where "d:" is the floppy drive letter (e.g., "A:").
When INSTALL is finished it will offer to unpack the included archives:
WFF*.EXE contains the latest version of What Floppy Format? which lets
you format floppies to any density from within any of my software
packages. You must have FDFORMAT to use WFF.
If you have received WJS from a bulletin board, it should be extracted
into its own directory for the sake of organization. Then just type WJS
and set your Preferences.
Documentation Files
───────────────────
If you have WordPerfect 5, just load WJS.WP. Instructions to reformat
and print are in a comment at the top of the file. If you don't have
WordPerfect or a way to convert the WJS.WP file to your word processor, then
just "TYPE WJS.TXT > PRN" at the DOS prompt to print WJS.TXT, which is an
ASCII file generated from WordPerfect for a "standard printer."
Using WJS with EXE compressors
──────────────────────────────
WJS is compressed with LZEXE by Fabrice Bellard, a public domain EXE
compressor (merci, Fabrice!). This saves over 100k of disk space and causes
a pause of only ½ to 2-seconds during initial loading on 386/20 and 386/40
CPUs. A worthwhile trade-off, I think.
Thanks, Merci, Gracias, Grazie,
