Many of these papers are available for anonymous FTP. The name in
parentheses is the name as you may find it under archie. Vietse's
paper is the "model" of the talk. I thought about writing out my
text of the talk, but others have said it better than I. Who knows,
I may write one someday anyway. The other papers are just good sources
of general common-sense things every sysadmin should know. I consider
them "prerequisites" for knowing the mechanism and philosphy of using
any security tool. Of course this list is by no means complete.
