Public Television. A bevy of wonderful cultural and educational programs for the entire family. One thing, however, is amiss. Where are those wonderful, stimulating "X-rated" movies?
America has raised pornography to an art form (Just ask the editors of Playboy and Penthouse). The fact that porno films are a vital part of the same industry as these classics is undeniable. Therefore, doesn't it logically follow that they are every bit the art form that those wonderful magazines are? That, as far as I am concerned, satisfies the standards of cultural programming that PBS stands for, warranting the presentation of such classics as "Debbie Does Dallas" on Public Broadcasting stations.
But there's more! Couldn't excerpts of some of these "stimulating" movies be shown on the likes of "Mister Roger's Neighborhood" and "Sesame Street?" Used properly, these excerpts could serve as excellent shorts in these shows as an informative source of sex education for toddlers. Mr. Rogers already has the vehicle in "Picture, picture," and it would be easy to get the muppets involved.
Speaking of which, the people involved with "Sesame Street" would do a great service to its viewers by making the muppets anatomically correct. "Hey Linda, ever wonder why they call me Big Bird?"
As can plainly be seen, porno films would be a welcome addition to Public Television. They could even help the stations financially--The programmers could threaten to take the shows back off the air due to lack of funds, and the pledges would likely pour in by the thousands.
So write to PBS--demand that your family receive "The very best in television." Demand the showing of this country's most artistic films. DEMAND pornography on Public Television!
