1.0 REVISION HISTORY
====================
v1.01.00 ... OFFICIAL PUBLIC RELEASE (release 10/19/92)
---------------------------------------------------------
We consider this to be a minor release, even though
many of the public might think of it as major. The
features and/or bug-fixes in this version are as
follows:
- Z-Modem, Y-Modem and X-Modem (1K) protocols.
Both Z-Modem and Y-Modem fully support Batch
Uploads and Downloads. Z-Modem also will auto-
matically initiate a download when the Host begins
a Z-Modem download! You are allowed at most 60
files to be uploaded simultaneously in Batch mode.
You MAY specify Wildcards and normal filenames
intermixed on the same Batch Filename request
dialog.
- A new feature during installation: If you do not
specify sub-directories when you extract your
RIPterm archive, the software will now auto-sense
this situation and prompt you to move the Icon
Files to the proper directories for normal opera-
tion of RIPterm. In other words, if you make a
mistake un-ZIP'ing the file, RIPterm will compen-
sate and make the world "right".
- Full Featured ASCII Text File Uploading. New
settings allow you to custom-tailor the ASCII
Line and Character pacing values (in 1/10'ths of
a second increments)
- Recognition of EMS (expanded) or XMS (extended)
to free up memory. If neither EMS or XMS memory
are found, disk file swapping will now operate to
free up as much memory as possible for RIPterm.
RIPterm can now easily operate within a memory
limit of around 460k available with full perfor-
mance. Now you can have that "extra" TSR loaded
and STILL run RIPterm! This includes Networks!
- A "Shell to DOS" option has been added due to
extreme popular demand. RIPterm, when loaded,
will take advantage of a lot of RAM, much of which
isn't needed when "in DOS mode". So, RIPterm
returns a large portion of that RAM to DOS before
it shells, therefore you have an actual, functional
DOS shell (not labotomized due to lack of memory).
Upon re-entry into RIPterm, the graphics screen
that was present (before shelling) is restored to
the screen and your session resumes its normal
course.
- Minor graphical "tweaks" to the Pull Down menu
system (Yes, we saw that screwy line, and fixed it).
Also, the checkmark has been dropshadowed and is
more visible.
- CPS rate and other info has been added to the
X-Modem file transfer window.
- A modification was also made, more atuned to the
SysOp's needs: The Mouse Region command now
supports an alternate character for "control
characters" other than the caret/circumflex (^).
You may now specify the backquote character (`)
in place of (^) to obtain a control character.
In other words, if you had to type ^M to get a
carriage return, you may now obtain the same effect
by using a `M instead. The backquote is such an
infrequently used character, it was a good choice
for the control character. We figure, what BBS
would use this for a special character? If you're
not sure if this applies to you, see if you can say
YES to this scenario: Did, when you put a RIPscrip
menu on your system, see some of the RIPscrip
command codes show up in your text window, and also
see one or more Mouse Regions not work properly?
Does your BBS use the ^ character in its Menu System
to designate Control Characters? If you said YES to
both of these questions, then you should use the
Backquote (`) character on your BBS' menu files.
Simply bring them into a text editor, search for any
occurence of (^), make sure its truly part of a BBS
command you specified, then change it to the back-
quote (`). You're finished - RIPterm v1.01.00 will
take care of the rest!
- RIPterm now checks the current directory for any
Icon (.ICN or .MSK) files, and optionally, will move
them to the proper ICONS\ sub-directory. This is
very importance if you forget to unZIP the distribu-
tion archive without specifying "sub-directory mode"
(ie, "RIPTRM10 -D").
v1.00.00 ... OFFICIAL PUBLIC RELEASE (released 9/22/92)
---------------------------------------------------------
First Official "Public Release".
0.99 BETA HISTORY
=================
v0.99.50ß ... BETA RELEASE (released 09/10/92)
---------------------------------------------------------
A MAJORLY ENHANCED VERSION... This version added
a number of seriously usable features. Among them
include:
- A configurable "scroll-back" buffer. You may
set a scrollback buffer from 5k to 64k in size.
Scrollback mode offers SAVE Page/Buffer, PRINT
Page/Buffer, scroll up/down through the data,
as well as a SEARCH/SEARCH-AGAIN feature which
hilights all occurences simultaneously.
- Full KEYSTROKE-MACROS! That's right, a fully
functional Keystroke Macro System with an easy
to use interface. Type ALT-K for Keystroke
Macros. You may have unlimited Macro Files.
- Capture "Log-File" option. Capture important
information coming across the terminal to a
Text File.
- X-Modem (CRC) UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD support. Due
to popular demand, this common protocol has been
added. We will be releasing more protocols
very soon.
- Repaired "ANSI" problems. A couple of "move
cursor" ANSI commands were not functioning
properly. Now fixed.
v0.99.41ß ... BETA RELEASE (released 09/03/92)
---------------------------------------------------------
A nicely enhanced version:
- Full "ANSI" support now available
- Pull down menus are enhanced visually
v0.99.31ß ... BETA RELEASE (released 08/30/92)
---------------------------------------------------------
A number of changes were made in this first Beta
revision. Among those worth mentioning are:
- Support for the revised Mouse Region portion of
the RIPscrip protocol. It now has the ability
to set the text window to full screen and clear
the screen when a mouse region is clicked. This
provides for a simplified installation on a BBS
that has many areas that cannot support RIP.
- More Streamlined clickable buttons, simple
dialog boxes and Information windows. In all of
these cases, the buttons on these windows are
now "visibly" clickable and support default
choices when <RETURN> is pressed. In addition,
tapping <ESC> at any of these menus now operates
properly rather than selecting "YES" all the time.
- The "Reset All Windows" RIPscrip command would not
clear the last few scan lines of the graphics
display. This would occasionally leave remaining
graphics data on the screen when it shouldn't be
there. Now fixed.
- When dialing the modem with the auto re-dialer,
tapping a key would display a message in the
message window in the incorrect font, size and
color. Now fixed.
