Ah BOOZE BALLS, a favorite of mine for over 25 years. I usually make
these during Thanksgiving weekend and let them "cure" for the Christmas
festivities. I make bourbon and rum balls, this year using 151
rum....hic!!!
BOOZE BALLS
1 Box vanilla wafers
3Tbls Hershey's cocoa
3Tbls Karo syrup
1/2 - 1Cup Chopped walnuts
1/2 Cup Booze (bourbon, rum, etc)
Powdered sugar as req'd.
Pulverize the vanilla wafers (food processor with metal blade does a
fine job). Blend in the cocoa and nuts, then add the syrup and booze.
Adjust the amount of booze to reach a rather stiff consistency dough.
Make small balls, approx 1" in dia, and roll in powdered sugar and
place in a covered container, keeping all containers/bowls covered at
all times. (I use a clean 1 lb coffee can with its plastic lid to hold
the balls)
After all the balls are rolled and placed in the sealed containers, let
the container set out over night, then place in the refrigerator until
you are ready to enjoy.
Always keep the container sealed. You don't want to lose any alcohol.
The 151 rum balls were a hit this year....some were eating them and
drinking a coke at the same time.....gooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!
ENJOY..
