  5. Mom's Old-Fashion Fudge

  7. I just called my mother and she gave me her recipe.  As I remember,
  8. this is a rich fudge but not as airy as one with marshmallows (but 
  9. I suppose they could just be added at the end.)

  11. In a heavy saucepan combine:
  12.  
  13. 2 heaping cups white sugar (I'm going to guess it at 2 cups + 1 T)
  14. 2 tablespoons cocoa
  15. 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  16. dash of salt
  17. 1 cup heavy cream
  18.  
  19. Bring the above ingredients to boil.  Cook until they reach soft ball
  20. stage (234 to 240 F)  Remove from heat and add the following:

  22. 1 cup nut pieces
  23. 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  24. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  25.  
  26. Stir to combine then pour out on a buttered pan and let cool until
  27. hardened.
