  1.      Would  you  like  to  make  money  at  home  with  your
  2. computer?   Although fast becoming a crowded field, this may
  3. be one of the ultimate cottage industries.   You  can  start
  4. with  as  little  investment  as  one  computer,  which  you
  5. probably already have if you are reading this file. It is so
  6. easy to do, even kids can do it after school to  earn  extra
  7. money. It sure beats babysitting or delivering newspapers!
  8.  
  9.      Sometimes  I  refer  to  the  slot  on  the  front of a
  10. computer as the money slot, the place where money comes out!
  11.  
  12.      This  business  is  extremely  easy  to  start,  simply
  13. assemble a collection  of  shareware  that  you  like,  make
  14. copies,  and  sell them.  It's just that easy!  Well almost.
  15. Here are a few tips: Shareware disks are ten times easier to
  16. sell for $1 than for $2 or $3 each.   Make  sure  that  what
  17. you  are  selling  are  shareware or public domain programs.
  18. You must avoid selling copies of something that  the  author
  19. maintains  full  rights  to. Anything that you may copy will
  20. normally say so specifically somewhere within the disk.   To
  21. get  more  master  disks  for your collection, you can order
  22. interesting titles from your own favorite shareware vendors.
  23. Then, when you get a disk you'd like to copy and sell, write
  24. to the author for permission to do so.  Almost  always,  the
  25. author will gladly give you the permission.  Sometimes, they
  26. even send you a free copy of their latest version.

  28.     There are many ways to sell shareware. You can sell at a
  29. flea market on weekends, you can make a flyer  listing  your
  30. programs  and  paper  the  town with them. You can also send
  31. these flyers to people. You can carry a box of disks  around
  32. in   the   back   of  your  car  and  sell  to  friends  and
  33. acquaintances. You can consign disks to retail stores.   You
  34. can even use shareware disks as a great  trading  medium.  I
  35. have  traded  bunches  of shareware disks for a VGA monitor,
  36. VGA card, laptop computer, and other neat toys.

  38.      On  a  small  part-time  scale, your only cost is blank
  39. disks and labels.  You can  get  a  box  of  labels  at  any
  40. stationery store. Blank disks sell for as little as 19 cents
  41. each.  Look  in  any issue of the big computer magazines and
  42. you will see several mail-order suppliers  of  blank  disks.
  43. For  a  full-time  business  you  have  to  experiment  with
  44. advertising and build a large clientele.  The best way is to
  45. start a small part-time business and let it grow  larger  as
  46. your  experience  grows.   We  recommend  that you play with
  47. several low cost advertisements first and see which  formats
  48. work best for you. Do not place $2000 ads until you know you
  49. have   designed   them  just  right.   Once  you  gain  this
  50. experience, enjoy the profits!
