I am putting together a shareware release of Ghost Writer, which will
include a DOC file describing the rest of the Hughes - Schoolfield
Utilities.
I would like to include a file of user comments about the Utilities,
would you be willing to post a brief message here, telling your
thoughts about the utilities? Thanks in advance...

Just a note to let you know how much I like your Hughes - Schoolfield
Utilities.
Been using it for about a month and still find new functions and ways
to use it.
I particularly like your Ghost Writer text editor, and use it every
day. Much quicker and easier to use than my word processor for
letters, notes and batch file editing. I no longer have a need for my
word processor. Have saved several meg of hard drive space...
The Batch Tools with your suggested Menu setup as well as the many
sample Batch files have made moving around my system a quick, easy and
fun thing to do. Not at all the chore it used to be. Never realized
how much more accurate computer operation is with the use batch files.
I don't mind typing, but typing letters and notes is more fun than
typing the same command lines over and over, (and correcting typos)...
My second favorite of the long list of your many fine utilities is
View. Again a real typing saver. No longer do I have to repeat the
"Type" command to go back to a previous text line long since scrolled
by. Just Up and DownArrow to scroll back and forth at my leisure...
Batch Tools with the Menu switch allows me to change to my most used
directories with the striking of just one key and mouse select the one
I want from the pop up window (Thanks for all the mouse
compatibility)... My next adventure will be to save more hard drive
space my using your very compact Quick Terminal instead of my current
Communications program.
In short, I love how compact yet diversified your program is. Thanks
for getting back a whole lot of my hard drive, speeding up my
previously clogged up computer and making it all fun again. I'd
recommend your utilities to every intelligent and serious computer
user.
Sincerely,
Don Nordstrom 1891 Palm Dr ColoSpgs, CO 80918

Sure. Anything to help! I'll write up some stuff (on GW, naturally!)
and send it to you. There are four programs I've used extensively so
far and cannot do without: GW, CUR, PUSH, POP, and C (well, actually
five. I n't had too much of a chance to look at some of the other
stuff. Oh, I also replaced the 3DMENU (the one on the BBSs around
here) with your menu program. Everytime my computer boots, your menu
program comes up. I love the Quips!!
Guess I'd better wait to tell you the rest in the file. The list
keeps growing and growing and growing... (!!!)

Here's the comments you've requested.
By the way, when will Quick Address have COM4 support? That's where
my modem is setup.

Robert,
Here are the comments you asked for. Basically, I thinks
Hughes-Schoolfield Utilities IS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY I'VE
**EVER** SEEN!!!! ... just kidding.
I have not yet gotten a chance to fully explore H-S Utilities yet
(there's alot there!), but here are some comments on the things I
have, or that I've at least read about. Edit them however you like,
if necessary.
H-S Utilities:
--------------
H-S Utilities is a must-have! With H-S Utilities, batch file
programming takes on a whole different meaning. DOS should have come
with many of the H-S Utility programs to begin with!
C:
-----
C is one of my favorite (out of the many) H-S Utilities!
There's no longer any need to remember those long path names. Just a
few keypresses can replace a whole line path names. Just Hit C and
select the path from the menu.
PUSH and POP:
-------------
PUSH and POP are my two most called H-S Utility routines. PUSH
the current directory, then go do some work in another sub-directory.
Type POP and you're right back where you just camme from!
CUR:
----
This is the routine that originally sold me on H-S Utilities. I
noticed the cursor on Robert's computer wasn't sluggish, like mine. I
asked him about it and walked away the most used set of programs on my
computer! Include it in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to speed-up the cursor
to a nice, but not too fast speed.
PROMENU:
--------
PROMENU is my favorite menu system! I immediately canned my old
ones and replaced them with this. Easy-In, Easy-Out.
Quote Generator:
---------------
Just when I though I've seen all the include quips, up pops
another new one! Many, many clever sayings. Very wise to heed
(most) of them!
Vertical Scrolling Lightbar Menu:
---------------------------------
I used to hate batch file programming. With this batch file
utility many user selections can be made from a menu! Like I say,
with H-S Utilities, batch file programming takes on a whole new
meaning.
MATH PRO:
---------
If I don't have a scientific calculator handy, I don't worry with
this program on the hard drive! After all, isn't that what computers
are for?
MOVE:
-----
MOVE is another one of my most used utilities. Just move a
program instead of copying, then deleting, it.
SCOPY:
------
Its nice not having to worry about copying over another file.
Ghost Writer/Format Document:
-----------------------------
Ghost Writer is a great text editor! I use it for creating and
editing all my batch files, as well as writing college term papers.

I will increase your d/l time so you can get the HS Utility update, it's
pretty big. Thanks again for purchasing the Hughes-Schoolfield Utilities
product!

Thanks for the d/l time, and you're welcome for my purchase of your product. I
use it every day for some reason or other, and it has become indispensable to
my system.
Also, thanks for help with our new HUB. I'm sure we'll be advertising H/S
Utilities on there, too, as soon as we get set up.
