GUSMOD v1.1
By Joshua C. Jensen (CyberStrike of Renaissance)
Copyright (C) 1992,1993 - All Rights Reserved
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
GUSMOD is an almost fully Protracker-compliant module player written to
use the new Gravis Ultrasound card from Advanced Gravis and Forte Technologies.
Most of the Protracker commands are implemented; only a few don't work as of
yet. Almost all of the commands have been tested under different conditions.
Well, folks, looks like Renaissance is pumping out the new intros, source
codes and so on. We are the first demo group to have done ANYTHING big with
the Gravis Ultrasound. Both Tran and I have both coded players, his 386-
protected, mine real mode. As an added bonus, the source code to this module
player, GUSMOD, has been included.
This is just a quickie doc to release with this player. As of now, it doesn't
do anything but play modules. The next release will wedge into the GUS IRQ
and become completely independent of the system timer. Channels will be
fully pannable in the next release (hopefully in the next few days). It'll
have oscilloscopes (if I can crash a certain bug), a period-based spectrum
analyzer, module selection via cursor keys, and PROBABLY run in the background
of nearly any program.
To use GUSMOD, you type at the DOS prompt:
d:\> GUSMOD module<.mod>
The .mod extension is not required.
Known bugs: There are a few modules that GUSMOD doesn't play correctly
(including the modules for my game, CyberStrike). The Ultrasound plays these
stupid pops and clicks when the volume is changed and even when samples change.
Both of these should be fixed in the next release.

Watch for two upcoming Renaissance games that will be published
through Epic MegaGames. These will be very good, have full Gravis digital
support (and Soundblaster/Soundblaster Pro digital support), and be out
within the month. Watch for Zone 66 and CyberStrike!
