║ Freedom Information Network (FINET) ║
║ ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── ║
║ Rules and Node/Hub User Agreement ║
╚═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
This network is called "Freedom Information Network", also known as
"Freedom Infonet", and hereinafter referred to as "FINET." Peter
Skorupsky, is administrator of the network and of the Freedom Infonet
bulletin board system, who is also referred as "me" or "I" below. The
term "you" "user" or "your BBS", unless otherwise qualified, signifies
you personally, the node or hub sysop, or you and your system singly,
severally and jointly, if your BBS and/or node or hub is a corporate
entity. This agreement is between you and FINET.
We exist to serve God, glorify Him and delight in Him. We exist to
provide fellowship among believers and witness to non-believers. In so
doing, we endeavor to coordinate and gather intelligence, resources and
information, as well as network with others with similar interests and
missions. Our historical scope is that of classical and philosophical
apologetics, theology, counselling, teaching, ministry to the cults and
occult, assisting researchers, pastors, educators and others with these
matters, and exchange information on these issues as well as on current
and international affairs, United States of America, Israel, captive
nations, and human rights.
To preserve the Christian objectives of FINET, Christian standards of
conduct are required. As a private network, FINET reserves the right to
admit or refuse any bulletin board or sysop as a affiliate, member or
participant of FINET. FINET reserves the right to immediately remove or
suspend net access of any individual node, hub or regional hub for any
action considered detrimental to the goals, spirit and/or quality of
FINET. Your association with this network may be suspended or
terminated at any time without cause, or for failure to abide by this
agreement.
Neither FINET, Freedom Infonet (RBBS) nor myself warrants or makes
any guarantees concerning the availability, present or future, of the
NETHUB, FINET, Freedom Infonet RBBS, or other services. Should the
matter of dissolution of the network arise sometime if the future, such
termination or dissolution of the network would, my health permitting,
be preceded by ten days' notice to each hub and node relaying directly
with Freedom Infonet (RBBS) of such dissolution. Ideally, we will
continue to be here until the Lord returns.
Likewise, you are free to withdraw from FINET at any time, provided
that: (a) If you are a hub, then you agree to give your hub and nodes
ten days' prior notice; (b) If you are a node, you agree to give your
hub and callers ten days' prior notice.
If you are a node or hub, then assuming that you have accurately
completed the application form and have been notified of its acceptance,
you have access to the FINET hub on Freedom Infonet (RBBS). If you are a
node, hub or individual participant, then you are essentially a guest of
FINET and contractually agree to be subject to these rules. It is
unfortunate that rules are needed. However, these essentially mean that
by your participation in FINET, you agree to abide by my decisions
(someone has to moderate) and conduct yourself is a Christian manner
glorifying and serving God.
The abbreviated statement of faith is we believe: That the bible is
the Word of God, inerrant, infallible and inspired (God-breathed) in its
original autographs, a complete and final revelation of God; In one God,
personal and knowable, Who manifests Himself in the Persons: the Father,
the Son and the Holy Spirit; That Jesus Christ is God manifest in the
flesh, born of a virgin, without sin and the chosen Messiah Who will one
day set up His kingdom on earth; That Jesus Christ died on the cross for
our sins, was buried, rose again from the dead, ascended back to heaven
and will one day again return to this earth; That all persons are
sinners, guilty before God, deserving of judgment and in need of the
Savior Jesus Christ our Lord; That salvation from sin, death and hell is
by God's grace, based on the work of Jesus Christ alone, and is received
by faith apart from any human performance or merit; That all believers
in Jesus Christ are baptized, sealed and indwelt by the Holy Spirit and
that He fills those believers who obey God and separate from sinful
habits and life-styles; That eternal life is a gift of God; In the
eternal punishment of the unbeliever and in the eternal life of the
believer.
I do not push any denomination -- these are men's creations and
sometimes divisive. I accept the original autographs of the bible as
literally inspired by God. Those who deny the holiness of God's word,
the divinity of Jesus the Christ, or the Trinity are not considered
Christian. While pigeon holes escape me, Protestant and evangelical is
an approximation, and my personal calling is research, teaching,
counselling, spiritual warfare, discernment and organization.
Leaving any messages, whether public or private, which may be
abusive, blasphemous, or promote any illegal activity are forbidden.
Any illegal activities, including but not limited to the promotion of
illegal acts and promotion of software copyright infringement are
prohibited.
We use PCRELAY software at present and will also go to POSTLINK when
and if a working UTI for RBBS becomes available. Through universal text
interface programs, this networking software permits linking of RBBS,
PCBOARD, TBBS, SPITFIRE, REMOTE ACCESS, MAXIMUS, GAP and other bulletin
boards. This network software, if you don't already have it, is
available for $30 for node software and $60 dollars for hub software
from Bonnie Anthony in Maryland. Information on PCRELAY and an order
form with ordering information is included in FINET93A.ZIP in the file
named "PCRELAY.TXT". You must use legally owned PCRELAY or POSTLINK
(when applicable) to participate in FINET. This ensures smooth
operation, privacy and file routing.
We are also working on implementing the QWK packet mail transfer
system via RBBS Mail Manager Plus and MNET. This should be available
sometime in 1993.
You are free to relay with your hub or the NETHUB daily, if you or
your callers feel it useful. However, you agree to relay at least every
three (3) days.
Pursuant to the Electronic and Communications Privacy Act of 1986 (18
USC 2510 et. seq.), notice is hereby given that there are no absolutely
secure facilities provided by this system for sending or receiving
private or confidential electronic communications. Do not use this
system for any communication for which the sender intends only the
sender and the intended recipient(s) to read. While we do our best to
maintain privacy on messages that are intended to be private, (that is
to say, normally other users cannot read a message marked PRIVATE), you
should be aware that at the very least, the operator of this system can
and does review all communications transmitted herein. Message privacy
is not guaranteed on FINET or participating bulletin boards, nor is
FINET able to warranty individual security precautions or implementation
of individual bulletin boards in the network. Messages here can be
restricted from circulation to all possible nodes in the network by
application of routing or "private" designations, but such measures are
not considered to ensure privacy within the meaning of the Electronic
and Communications Privacy Act, as amended.
Every node, hub or individual user or participant explicitly
acknowledges that all information obtained from FINET or participating
bulletin boards is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either
expressed or implied, including, but not limited to the implied
warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Every one here has the freedom here to conduct themselves responsibly
and maturely. Callers are responsible for observing the rules here,
including those concerning "clean language," and participating node
sysops are also charged with the responsibility to enforce these rules,
including removal of network access for violators of such rules, as
FINET may direct.
Aliases or multiple accounts by the same individual are not
permitted.
Bombing the network, or the practice of a user generating multiple
non-related messages for the purpose of disrupting a conference or the
Network is prohibited.
Messages that are specifically intended to mislead and deceive are
considered to be disruptive to a conference.
Messages which are encrypted, or include or are comprised in whole or
part of codes and ciphers shall not be transmitted or exchanged on FINET
or associated networks without FINET administrator's written permission.
The use of any word, group of words, expression, comment, suggestion,
or proposal which is profane, obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy,
indecent, or is ethnically, sexually, or racially or otherwise libelous,
demeaning, derisive, defamatory or derogatory is strictly prohibited.
This is both a family and Christian network.
Abuse of other users of this/these conference(s) by sending abusive,
foul, or insulting messages is prohibited. Abuse of other users on the
basis of character, physical characteristics, religion, gender, or
ethnicity is not allowed. Messages meant to harass or bully another
user are not allowed.
Node or hub sysops need to upgrade access to the FREE 12 month
subscription to FINET, renewable annually by sending me a completed and
signed application [APPLY.FRM] as provided with the FINET information
packet. The acceptance of your registration and approval or granting of
subscription is entirely at the my discretion and your application and
subscription or access status here agrees to be bound by my decision and
judgment now or at any time in the future. Your signature of the
application form indicates acceptance and accord to abide by the terms
of this agreement.
If you are new to computer bulletin boards, please do not be alarmed
or overwhelmed by "all these rules." They are not meant to incur any
hardships, but to provide for contingencies in the modern world.
If you participate or carry one or more MJCN echo conferences, or
another non-FINET based network via FINET, you agree to adhere to their
rules; you will be a guest on that network. General rules for MJCN are
posted in the FICONF.TXT file. Furthermore, the MJCN Cults_Watch echo
has special rules, developed over the years in dealing with pagans,
cultists and occultists. These specifically appear in the FICONF.TXT
conference description file. This evangelical conference is one of the
best conferences of its kind; strict rules are necessary to preserve
integrity.
Your participation in FINET is construed as guest status and the
Network Administrator has the final word in all matters. If you
threaten to sue or litigate against FINET, FREEDOM INFONET BBS or the
administrator, it is understood your access is immediately terminated.
Be aware that neither administrator nor FINET owns any of the equipment
used to operate the network; there are no assets, personal or corporate,
upon which to collect imagined damages.
You agree to post and maintain the current FINET sysop and/or user
information packet file for public download on your board(s). The
current file is FINET93A.ZIP. The file name is FINETxxy, where "xx" is
the year, and "y" is the current revision.
This is a free Christian network and I don't believe in mandatory
fees for those who call here to exchange mail. No one is denied access
by criteria of monies or contributions. There are, however, real costs
associated with maintaining and expanding a network. If someone wishes
to make any optional voluntary contributions, checks should be payable
to "Cash" or "Peter Skorupsky" when contributing to FINET. There are
very high costs involved in running a nethub. Your node's callers may
wish to support their local BBS carrying these networks instead of
FINET, which is fine too. Donations cannot be refunded or returned. You
do not have to contribute. We are here to glorify the Lord and share
and defend the faith.
Mail address is:
FINET, P.O. Box 3051, Mercerville, NJ 08619-0051
By registering and/or participating in FINET, you agree to these
terms of this agreement. The following terms are simply your agreement
to hold this network and me harmless from any and all actions arising
from or consequences of your participation on FINET, and to observe
responsible, mature Christian conduct.
The individual or corporate user, subscriber or participant of FINET
hereby certifies that he or she has read the rules contained herein, is
competent to make and enter into this and other agreements and execute
contracts, and is not under undue influence or duress, but voluntarily
executes and agrees to be bound by the terms of the rules contained
herein.
The user, if he chooses to participate in the echo network
conferences, agrees to abide by the applicable network's rules (we may
carry more than one network, in which case we are guests in the others
and abide by their rules). These rules basically appertain to
gentlemanly and honorable behavior.
The user further agrees to hold harmless and release from liability,
action(s) or cause(s) of action(s) the SysOp(s), owner(s),
administrator(s) and/ or operator(s) of FINET, Freedom Infonet BBS, from
any matter, cause or thing whatsoever resultant may arise or have arisen
for, upon or by their use of or participation in activities related to
FINET on account of any or all damage(s) or loss(es), direct or
indirect, consequential or incidental, to their person, property,
business profits, business interruption, equity, goodwill, and the like,
suffered by the user, subscriber or participant, his/her heirs or
assigns, representatives, successors, executors, and administrators.
This agreement shall be considered to have been executed in the
County of Mercer, State of New Jersey, and subject now and in the future
to the laws of the State of New Jersey, U.S.A. in all matters.
If you do not agree to the terms herein, notify me at once and your
account and access will be immediately terminated at your request, or if
applying for node or hub status--do not apply. If you continue to
access FINET or Freedom Infonet after signature and acceptance of your
application, it is understood and agreed that you have read, understood
and agree to the terms and rules of this agreement.
This agreement is subject to future amendment at any time; changes
are always available from the Freedom Infonet (BBS) and FINET. Except
for emergency management decisions, changes to written policy and/or
this agreement shall become effective 30 days after publication or
distribution (which may include electronic means). While the
announcement of revisions or intended revisions may be made
electronically on FINET, the actual acquisition and reading of the
revised document shall be your responsibility. These revisions will be
posted in FREEDOM INFONET RBBS bulletin or files areas.
