  19. DR DOS 6.0 and LANtastic 4.0 have been tested together by both
  20. Novell and Artisoft, and were found to be extensively compatible. 
  21. Customers with earlier versions of either DR DOS or LANtastic may
  22. achieve partial functionality when running the two products
  23. together.  However, such functionality is coincidental and is not
  24. supported by either Novell or Artisoft.  Customers who have earlier
  25. products and who experience problems should upgrade LANtastic or DR
  26. DOS as necessary.

  28. Testing of DR DOS 6.0 and LANtastic 4.0 revealed only a small
  29. number of minorconfiguration issues, which are as follows:
  30.  
  31. 1.   SUPER PC-Kwik 
  32.      Super PC-Kwik advanced disk reads and writes should be
  33.      disabled on LANtastic because the Super PC-Kwik scheduler
  34.      conflicts with the LANtastic scheduler causing machines to
  35.      hang.  To avoid this problem on a machine running SERVER, use
  36.      the Super PC-Kwik switches /D- /H- to disable advanced disk
  37.      reads and writes.  Normal caching is still active when these
  38.      switches are used.

  40.      Note that you do not need to disable advanced disk writes on
  41.      a node which is not running SERVER.
  42.  
  43.      As is true of most server/cache combinations, Super PC-Kwik
  44.      cannot cache redirected network drives. 
  45.  
  46. 2.   WINDOWS 3.0 IN ENHANCED MODE 
  47.      To run Windows 3.0 in enhanced mode using the DR DOS 6.0
  48.      EMM386.SYS memory manager, customers need to use an Artisoft
  49.      LANTASTI.386 driver dated 08-16-91 or newer.  Customers with
  50.      older LANTASTI.386 files can obtain a current driver from
  51.      Artisoft Technical Support.

  54. 3.   LANPUP UTILITY
  55.      Network redirections work properly under DR DOS 6.0, however,
  56.      the LANPUP terminate and stay resident utility will not
  57.      display the redirection properly.
  58.  
  59. 4.   DR DOS 6.0 DISK UTILITIES
  60.      Certain DR DOS 6.0 disk utilities are intentionally designed
  61.      for use only on local drives and will return an error message
  62.      if run on a redirected (network) drive or on a machine running
  63.      the SERVER program.  These utilities are summarized below:

  94.      * Files on a server protected by PASSWORD cannot be accessed
  95.      from LAN workstations, even when the correct password is
  96.      provided.  They may, however, be accessed at the server on its
  97.      own physical drive.

  99. 5.   SUPERSTOR
  100.      One LANtastic 4.0 test system was run with a DR DOS 6.0 server
  101.      whose hard drive had been prepared using the SuperSTOR disk
  102.      compression utility.  All nodes on the network, even non-DR
  103.      DOS nodes, could access data on the SuperSTOR drive.   Efforts
  104.      were made to exercise the test system heavily, however
  105.      customers should consider use of SuperSTOR partitions on
  106.      LANtastic servers as "at their own risk" at the current time
  107.      and use standard precautions such as frequent backups of
  108.      essential data.   We also strongly recommend that customers
  109.      read DR DOS Technical Tip # 1200 before creating or using a
  110.      SuperSTOR drive.

  112. 6.   RARE QUICKBASIC PROBLEM 
  113.      The initial shipments of DR DOS 6.0 had a rare problem in
  114.      which server pathing was not handled correctly by a Microsoft
  115.      Quickbasic application under LANtastic 4.0.  This problem was
  116.      reported by only a single user in the field and was very
  117.      difficult to reproduce even in our testing laboratories so is
  118.      unlikely to be seen by most customers.  The problem relates to
  119.      the "double backslash" \\ before the server name, and has been
  120.      corrected.  Customers who see the problem, and who have DR DOS
  121.      files dated prior to 12/91, should contact Novell technical
  122.      support for updated files.

  124. 7.   TASKMAX
  125.      LANtastic software should be loaded before TASKMAX is invoked. 
  126.      This permits all TASKMAX task sessions to access the network. 
  127.  
  128. 8.   INTERNATIONALIZATION ISSUES 
  129.      (Country, Keyboard, Codepage, and Graftabl) The U.S. version
  130.      of LANtastic will run only with the default (U.S.) DR DOS 6.0
  131.      country and keyboard.  DR DOS 6.0 customers who require
  132.      alternate country support, codepage, or graftabl support
  133.      should contact Artisoft for an international version of
  134.      LANtastic 4.0.

  136. 9.   NET PRINT, NET EXPAND, & NET DIR
  137.      These commands will fail on DR DOS 6.0.  Call the Lantastic
  138.      BBS (602-293-0065) for the patch called DRXCIP.EXE, a self
  139.      extracting archive file.

  141. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  142. Artisoft provides a similar but more extensive document on DR DOS
  143. 6.0 compatibility with LANtastic 4.0.  This document, which details
